Great list, Carolien!! I can recommend [book:Jamilia
, a quick and enjoyable read (there is also a film version available on youtube).
I have Touba and the Meaning of Night on my shelves and will add that to my list as well.
I also have Bird Summons on my TBR as a re-read, because it was a quick and enjoyable read in 2019, but when I read some of the reviews I got the feeling that I missed out some important aspects of the book so I would like to make sure I will get it this time :))

Nan, do not worry about being slow. I do not manage to read 10% of what I want to read! :(

For " Bird summons", we have an official read in January, so I guess we can start discussing it in March, what do you think?

I read it a while ago. It was not bad but also not really good. It did not leave a lasting impression on me. On thing that irked me is the lead protagonist is of Iraqi ancestry born in the U.S. She signs up for the army thinking she will be helping Iraq and is surprised to arrive in Iraq and find the American troops are not welcome there. ( this is not a spoiler as it happens right away at the start of the book) To me this seemed very unbelievable as there were already numerous protests around the world before the US invasion ( both times)
