Where Does This Book Fit? the 2022 edition

The Night Watchman
The Silent Wife - book about a secret?
Agatha Christie: A Mysterious Life
The Book of Lost Friends
The Pull of the Stars
The Last Romantics
The Thursday Murder Club
When the Stars Go Dark - misleading title?
Amal Unbound
Thanks in advance!

The Thursday Murder Club would fit prompt 40, using 'featuring an amateur detective'. It might also fit protagonist using a mobility aid, but I can't remember precisely.

Death in St. Petersburg
Thirteen Reasons Why
Wonder Woman: Warbringer
The Mists of Avalon
Inferno
The Brilliant Death
The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O.
The Scorch Trials
A Study in Treason
European Travel for the Monstrous Gentlewoman
The Familiars
Rebel of the Sands
Unclean Spirits
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Lost Roses
Moreta: Dragonlady of Pern
Anne McCaffrey's Dragonflight #1
The Sherlockian
Beauty
Akata Witch
A Treacherous CurseUnderground
Vanished
Labyrinth
Downpour
Seawitch
Library of Souls
The Fangirl Life: A Guide to All the Feels and Learning How to Deal
Flygirl
A Tyranny of PetticoatsA Second Chance
A Trail Through Time
Maisie Dobbs

13 Reasons Why could fit the prompt about the Afterlife or secrets
Mists of Avalon could be a nonpatriarchal society (although equally problematic)
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo could be a book about someone leading a double life.
The Fangirl Life (which I've never read or even heard of) does have Life (a board game) in the title.

Thanks!!

How about Prompt 36: A book you know nothing about?
sanju wrote: "Would Call Me By Your Name work for a book about gender identity or is that a stretch?"
I don't see how that would work for "gender identity"
I don't see how that would work for "gender identity"

Thirteen Reasons Why - a book about a secret; also afterlife?
Wonder Woman: Warbringer - nonpatriarchal society?
The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O. - a book about witches; also DODO is a board game https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Kosmos-697... a book about a man-made disaster; a misleading title (DODO dosen't literally rise or fall); a book about a secret
The Scorch Trials - a book about a man-made disaster? a misleading title?
Akata Witch - also a book about witches

I think Outlander would work well for the "a book about a secret" prompt.

Thirteen Reasons Why is told from two POV (one of the advanced challenges)
Mists of Avalon features women who do magic - could use in the witches category, though they use the term priestess
Akata Witch is Own Voices SFF but is also PopSugar's recommendation for found family
Beauty seems to be all about a secret, based on the GR page

Thanks in advance!

Found family, about a secret, maybe your favourite season (trilogy starts in autumn and continues into winter and newest book is over summer). If there are any books on your plan with a title ending in T, you could do starts with the last letter of your previous read with Truly Devious. There might be a party involved but I can't recall specifics.

Maisie Dobbs is set in London, which could be paired with a sister city — or use a past prompt of a place you would like to visit.

I just downloaded that too!!! From the description, I was wondering if it would fit in "nonpatriarchal society"? Maybe? Maybe not.
And it must work for "sapphic."
I thought I had read that on Storygraph you could see where other readers slotted a certain book for a reading challenge, and that sounded very interesting, but I'm not seeing that feature.

Lumberjanes would fit for a book that can be read in one sitting. Sorry, but I haven't read any of the others.

Yes, you can. So... If you have an individual book you want to know about, you go to the book's page. Scroll beyond the "Community Reviews" section and then there should be a reading Challenges selection. It will tell you which of the reading challenges you're actively participating in (you've clicked "joined") the book has been added to...
I wish I knew how to post screenshots here. But I'll try to describe what it looks like. So when I go to the book "Hana Khan Carries On" Storygraph tells me it's been added the following of my challenges:
People have added this book to Book of the Month Club Reading Challenge 2022, POPSUGAR Reading Challenge 2021, POPSUGAR Reading Challenge 2022, and The Book Revolution 2022 TBR
If I want to see what prompt it was added to for the "POPSUGAR Reading Challenge 2022" I'd click on that link in my challenge list below that description. When I click on it I see all the prompts and can select where to add the book. Above that list, you can see where others have added the book. So for Hana Khan Carries On I can see the following:
"People have added this book to: A romance novel by a BIPOC author and A different book by an author you read in 2021"
Hope that helps.

According to my Popsugar 2022 challenge on storygraph
The Cruel Prince: Has not been added to Popsugar 2022
The Wicked King: Has not been added to Popsugar 2022
The Queen of Nothing: Has not been added to Popsugar 2022
The Inheritance Games: "People have added this book to: A #BookTok recommendation"
The Hawthorne Legacy: Has not been added to Popsugar 2022
Caraval: People have added this book to: A #BookTok recommendation and A book featuring a parallel reality
Legendary: Has not been added to Popsugar 2022
Finale: Has not been added to Popsugar 2022
The Atlas Six: People have added this book to: A #BookTok recommendation and A book about a secret
Sorry it's not more helpful

Thanks. Storygraph is just not intuitive for me, I hate the way it is laid out. But out of curiosity, I jumped through the hoops and joined two of the larger Popsugar 2022 Challenges (why are there so many??? )
And, survey says: Upright Women is a sapphic book, and could also be own voices SFF.

Thank you! That's really helpful!

It is not a nonpatriarchal society, as much of the book is about working around the patriarchy. It does work for Sapphic, but the main romance in the book involves a nonbinary character. It also works very well for OwnVoice and "found family" and gender identity (author uses they/them pronouns as does a charecter).

A book about a secret is all I can think of

Definitely NOT on this one.

Because they have been created by individual users who did not check to see if the challenge was already in storygraph. *me making an annoyed face at those users* None of the Popsugar challenges are official (created by Popsugar on the site). I joined the one with the most users and books

To be fair, it's the same story here, really. This group is one of the biggest and oldest, but it's not the only one, and none of them are officially affiliated w/ Popsugar the way the FB group is.

that's fair

The Cruel Prince trilogy
found family can work
there are parties/coronations/weddings
I can read these books in one sitting because I love them so much and have reread them a few times
double life could be used
Inheritance Games/Hawthorne Legacy
Definitely secrets.
There is a party in book 2
Either book could be stretched into man made disaster because the grandpa purposely left people out of his will which made character do desperate things
These books have short chapters and the plot moves quickly so you could read them in one sitting
You can stretch it into found family
The Inheritance Games is being turned into a tv show tbd

It could definitely fit there. It does feature a deacon, but there are no giant apes in it. Deacon King Kong is a nickname.

Does anyone know if this would fit into #22 a book with a character on the ace spectrum? If not, suggestions on where it might fit please?
Becky wrote: "Would We Should All Be Feminists fit into 3) about or set in a non-patriarchal society?"
No, it's an essay on dealing with the existing patriarchal culture.
You could read this in one sitting, though!
Or you can find another book you're reading whose title ends in W, find a favorite author quoted on the cover, or find a BookTok recommendation for it. (I bet it's been recommended on BookTok!)

I've only read The Last Romantics from your list, but if I'm remembering it correctly, it should fit in these prompts:
-A book set in the 1980s - the early part of the book covers the siblings' childhood
-A book about a secret
-A misleading title, maybe?
-A book with a quote from your favorite author on the cover or Amazon page - quotes by Kevin Wilson, Meg Wolitzer, Laurie Frankel, Lisa Gabriele

Thanks so much!

If you're willing to torture youself through "Find Me," you can use it as a duology. The best part takes place in Rome, so you could use Rome as one of the sister cities. It's mostly in summer, if that's your favorite season. It's about a secret, kinda. I don't remember if there's any Italian in it, but it may work for 2 languages. I'd say Oliver is living a double life.
It's SO good!
