Genre: NA. I read this book somewhere between 2010 and 2018, I think. Potential spoilers in comment. A girl lives with a hateful (abusive I think) guy but falls for someone else she's known for a while.

Pretty sure author was female. It was modern set. Only one book that I'm aware of.

I seem to recall a gazebo or pavilion being mentioned. Eventually someone is killed (the mean guy I think) and is buried in the yard (potentially beneath the gazebo or garden to hide the grave).

I've read Bully by Penelope Douglas and from what I can recall they were written similarly. I've read so many books that I'm finding it difficult to remember things clearly such as I could've sworn Five Finger Death Punch was mentioned in the book I can't remember and that is a common occurrence in Penelope Douglas books. If it is a book by her,  I've failed to find it.


Pretty sure I could be misremembering but this is the general plot in my head: the guy she falls in love with had been away for a while and returned to find her in this abusive relationship. He is into Five Finger Death Punch. They kiss (or have sex in the gazebo). Huge gap missing here. Her abuser is murdered/killed and buried under gazebo or in garden. Suppppper vague potential cop friend of abuser comes snooping? Pretty sure that went off the rails but saw that it was important to include every single thing I could think of even if I might be misremembering.

Five Finger Death Punch (the band). They're not in high school from what I can remember, but they're not much older than 18. If I had to guess, age ranges were 18-22 for the two main characters. I'm not sure what NA is. I can update title if needed.

It is a NA novel. Potential publication no earlier than 2009 and definitely no later than 2019.
I seem to remember the body of the dead person being buried beneath the steps of the gazebo as they needed to be fixed anyway and it would explain the disturbed dirt.
