Madeline Walz (madelinewalz) | 3 comments I read this book years ago, probably in high school (so 4-8 years ago I think) that I absolutely loved and I haven't been able to find it since. Not sure when it might have been published but it wasn't on the new books shelf at the library as far as I remember, if only because I never looked for books on the new books shelf. I've checked my 'read' shelf on Goodreads and it doesn't appear to be there but it's so long a list, so I could've missed it.
I'm almost certain it was YA sci-fi, because I remember the main characters being young. Pretty sure I read it as paperback or hardcover, not ebook, and I almost certainly checked it out from the library. If the library has a checkout history, I can't find it.

Here's what I remember:
Teenagers start developing powers. The MC is a girl who can make herself invisible to people close to her, but the more she uses that ability, the worse her eyesight gets. I remember something about a party where a person went nuts with their abilities or something and was taken away, I think.
All teenagers have to go to this military facility to be tested for having these abilities. They do it by collecting a blood sample, I think. People whose tests come back positive for having abilities aren't allowed to leave. If they come back negative, they can go.
The MC girl is worried about being discovered, so she tells her friend, a guy, and they swap her blood sample with someone else who they're pretty sure is normal. It works, and she's allowed to go home.

And that's about all I remember. No clue if it was a standalone book or first in a series. At the time I think I read this, I tended to just wander the shelves and grab things, and if it looked interesting I made sure it wasn't book five or something. If it's a series, it's definitely book 1.
