I'm almost certain it was YA sci-fi, because I remember the main characters being young. Pretty sure I read it as paperback or hardcover, not ebook, and I almost certainly checked it out from the library. If the library has a checkout history, I can't find it.
Here's what I remember:
Teenagers start developing powers. The MC is a girl who can make herself invisible to people close to her, but the more she uses that ability, the worse her eyesight gets. I remember something about a party where a person went nuts with their abilities or something and was taken away, I think.
All teenagers have to go to this military facility to be tested for having these abilities. They do it by collecting a blood sample, I think. People whose tests come back positive for having abilities aren't allowed to leave. If they come back negative, they can go.
The MC girl is worried about being discovered, so she tells her friend, a guy, and they swap her blood sample with someone else who they're pretty sure is normal. It works, and she's allowed to go home.
SPOILERS AHEAD
(view spoiler)[ Her friend, the male MC who thought he was normal, tests positive for an ability.
His ability is dormant for a while, but he does discover it: all of his senses are really, really good, so good that it's annoying. Even extremely dim light is too bright, the softest clothes are too rough, and bland food tastes bad. He's put through a training program with other teens with abilities/powers, and starts going on these missions with normal soldiers. Female MC is shocked when he tests positive for an ability and wants to break in to free him. She left before he discovered what his ability was. I remember her trying to break in, no clue if it worked. (hide spoiler)]
And that's about all I remember. No clue if it was a standalone book or first in a series. At the time I think I read this, I tended to just wander the shelves and grab things, and if it looked interesting I made sure it wasn't book five or something. If it's a series, it's definitely book 1.
