SOLVED. Middle Grade Book that had the word "hotel" in it

I'm trying to find a book that was Middle Grade and it had the word "hotel" in in. I think it was about this boy (Sage was his name i think?) and he always wanted to cook but then he got framed of poisoning someone and tried to find out who was poisoned but at the end of the book it was this magician/person who had magic, and i think the person who poisoned the other person had a title that related to red, chess, or cards of some sort.... anyone know it?? I think it had a bue or purple cover....

nvm i just found it! it's called "the last chance hotel". and the boy's name was seth, not sage
