Children’s chapter book with illustrations throughout about a girl sent to stay with her two aunts. The aunts are both witches with magic powers who dabble in the occult. The story starts off light-hearted; the aunts randomly display their tricks to the delight of their niece (one of the aunts shoots flame out of her fingertips, etc).

Somehow the girl unwittingly learns about a black magic ritual (not involving the aunts) about to take place and she investigates but is caught by the bad guys, who then try to use her in the ritual. One of the illustrations depicts the young girl lying down, covered with a quilt, with coins on her eyes (!!) Scary and dark little book, but with a sweet side…she and her aunts love each other very much, have fun together, etc. Read and published in the ‘70s.
