Florian | 3 comments [Sorry for my English] So, I read this book when I was around 11-12 years old, so it was during the early 2000's, but the book was probably published in the 1990's. I read it in French but I'm pretty sure that it is a translation from an English book. This book was part of a teen series much like Goosebumps but I know it's not from this series because I remember trying to look for it in it but impossible to succeed.

The cover had a very Goosebumps like style, we could see the young boy on the bottom left side, wearing black round sunglasses, as he's blind. His hair was dark, and he was leaning on the side, waving with its left arm to seek help, because he's surrounded by a cloud-like green fog, as I can recall.

The plot is about this young boy who is going to a vacation camp, maybe up in the mountains. I don't remember if he's accompagned by a guide dog but it's very likely the case. One day, he goes for a walk and find, in the forest, a big rock that seems to be blocking the entrance of a grotto. I think that he manages to move the rock and through the narrow crack he feels a very cold wind coming out and passing through him (he sat free the evil entity). The following days, without him knowing what's happening, the entity starts to haunt him and provoke accident and unluck, so the boy decides to go to the grotto to block the entrance again. But he ends up being stuck in it and has to fight the evil spirit. I remember a few other details like during his stay at the vacation site he has do to some rock climbing, helped with someone and almost fell (probably because of the malevolent spirit) and someone warning him about an old legend linked to this evil entity. I think also that he makes friend with someone but the boy is rather shy.

If anybody would help be, I'd be extremely glad to! I really enjoyed this story and I'd like to find this book!

Mai | 1280 comments Maybe The Dark by Lynn Beach? It was called "Vallée Fantôme" in French:
Nuit Noire (Phantom Valley #2) by Lynn Beach

"C'est parce qu'il est aveugle qu'Arthur a le droit de se faire accompagner aux cours par Lord, son chien-guide. Mais très vite, le comportement de l'animal devient si étrange que l'on demande à Arthur de s'en séparer. Lord serait-il le seul à sentir le danger qui menace son maître ? Le seul à percevoir la force maléfique qui plane au-dessus du collège ?"
