Jennifer Mae | 13 comments Spoilers. This was a fantasy adventure novel. A group of people end up in a parallel world. There are two guides who have every journey they take magically appear as a tattoo in their skin. They are being hunted by a bad gut who at one point kills a boy by blood eagle, which his companions dint agree with. The bad guys kidnap one of the guides and try to skin him alive to use his tattoo as a map. The other guide kills his companion to stop it. The female protaganist falls in love with the other guide. The group discovers the bad guys are trying to find a way to earth which is paradise compared to this world. Probably 90s or early 2000s. Set up like it could have a sequel

Jennifer, can you describe the main characters (e.g., their ages, jobs, how they know each other, where they live)? How did they travel to the parallel world - and what were they doing at the time?

How is the parallel world different from the group's home world?

Did you read this book in 1990s/early 2000s - or is that when you think it was published?

I added a few details to the header/ topic title. Feel free to edit it.

Can we eliminate The Skin Map by Stephen R. Lawhead?

Jennifer Mae | 13 comments Hi Kris, not The Skin Map but that looks like a great read.
I read the book in 1990s/early 20s. It was a new looking paperback at the time.
There was a young man, and older man and a woman. They all worked together in some way and were not related to each other.
I do not recall how they got there. They may have been taken against their will
