I'm currently on chapter 34 and y'all I'm really annoyed by Malina. Like she is so very insufferable. Like the fact that she cannot even acknowledge that even though Midas is awful everything truly could have been avoided if she had made better choices.

I'm almost done and let me just say this book was everything. Some people didn't like the smut scenes because they said it felt forced or unrealistic but I have to disagree with those statements.

I'm only like 10% in but here are some minor thoughts:

(view spoiler)[I'm so curious about how Auren ended up in the human world and what happened to her parents. Also, I thought about why she needed anyone/was poor if she could literally turn things to gold. I understand she was afraid people would try to hurt her and Midas was manipulative as heck but wow, figuring out that SHE's the one with the gold touch this whole time made me more annoyed at her situation, lol. At least she finally wises up. (hide spoiler)]

This was mentioned in the previous book, but her powers and ribbons did not manifest until later in her life and so I think she just remained where she was in terms of being poor because of her trauma

Their face off was moments after Ravinger's with Auren as she is still struggling to confront that he is both the warrior she has known during the entire previous book and the king of rot that she has feared for far longer. I'm so eager to see them grow close again and now I have so many pages to wait until that happens! (hide spoiler)]

Okay, I'm pretty sure that Raven Kennedy was very inspired by Sarah J. Maas because is this not basically ACOTAR? I've felt that since Glint but ugh. All the characters sound identical, especially Slade and his "inner circle".

(view spoiler)[I'm glad they addressed the whole "why don't one of you just kill him??" problem, because honestly, that's the obvious easy answer. Especially Auren who can literally turn Midas to gold and be done with it. All her problem solved. If she truly hates him so much, I feel like saying she can't is a cop out at this point to make the story keep going. Y'all, I'm tired of Auren. I still don't understand why Slade is so into her.

Also, are you telling me she keeps a normal schedule but she doesn't eat or drink at all during the day?!?! Nah. How is she gonna live without being able to drink for half the day she's awake... this doesn't make sense. (hide spoiler)]

Idk I don't really see much of the parallels to ACOTAR aside from Slade having the close-knit group. But like I feel like Auren and Feyre are way too different to compare

I am going to continue with the series. Glow is about 730 pages, so it will take me a bit longer to get through, and I'm only on page 68. But a fun fact is that this book seems to be told mainly from Slade's perspective

For me it's quite a bit:
- Both MCs thought they were with the right person but found out he's been controlling her
- Found real love interest who gave them choices
- Love interest is a super powerful leader of their court with dark powers and an inner circle of friends
- And of course they're all fae

I personally think Slade has 0 difference from Rhys personality-wise but maybe that's just me.

I will be taking a break after finishing this as I like to skip around different series a lot instead of reading straight through!
