He’s sinister and powerful and entirely too seductive. I’ve learned my lesson with trusting manipulative kings, so why does my chest constrict every time he’s near? I need to tread carefully, or I’m at risk of losing much more than just my freedom.

Regret and revenge war inside of me, and I need to figure out a plan fast before I get tangled up in the schemes of kings and queens.

Because I won’t be caught in a cage again. No, this time, It’ll be me setting the trap... I just hope my heart comes out of this unscathed.

Went through a big chunk of this last night (regretting that now lmao) so here are my updates :)

Chapter 6
(view spoiler)[Oh my, my heart broke with the little glimpse into her past, poor thing. The scene with Rip/Slade was brutal, but apparently he can bring the people back to life as well. I really do love him. I’m so glad of who Auren is becoming, she finally sees all of Midas his ploys and she’s plotting her revenge; I love it!!! And we have another Midas chapter, didn’t expect that. Ehehe Midas now knows that Mist is pregnant aaaand that Malina is plotting against him. Ehehehe. Apparently he killed his father when he was younger too - would be funny if the sculptor indeed turned out to be his dad. I’m already liking this book soooo much more because it’s not as vague and Auren is so much better!! (hide spoiler)]

Holy crap Midas has Digby!!! What a jerk, don’t know if it’s true though. I seriously need more Rip, badass Auren is cool, but I’ve seen far to little of Rip so far :( The drugs seem terrible damn. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[MY OH MY DID THEY DELIVER WITH THE RIP SCENE!! Right after she depleted her powers, he came and carried her to her rooms. My heart when he reprimanded the guards and carried her and said all those amazingly sweet things about ‘his own good’ and the flirting :’) I. LOVE. THEM. But she broke his heart again, can we just have happy scenes please :( Why can’t she just say that she doesn’t choose Midas?? She knows she isn’t loyal to him anymore???

AAAAH SHE TOLD HIM SHE’S LOYAL TO HERSELF AND THEY MADE OUT SKDJEOWNEOSNSKAPWWNNDKS I’M SHIPPING THEM SO HARD. I’m seriously madly in love with our feminist Rip, what a guy :’) Love u. (view spoiler)[Duuude the dinner was kinda brutal, I liked that she talked back to him, but she did take it a bit too far and started to remind me of a child. I was disappointed right along with her when Slade didn’t do anything to speak up for her, even though I get why he didn’t, I still felt a bit disappointed? I like Keon and Manu a lot though. And that dickhead Midas slapped her!!! Hot damn I would’ve kicked his ass if I were her. She should just touch him and turn him gold and BYE BYE MIDAS. Arghhhh. Kinda glad that Malina’s plans are all falling apart, she’s a bitch. Jeo is nice though, and that other guy gives me the creeps so I don’t really trust him. Midas is going crazier by the day. So yeah, I read until 4 in the morning.

And now it’s 3 in the morning and I can’t freaking stop!! I’m still squealing at every scene of Rip and Auren together, I freaking love them!!!! The scene in the library - again - broke my heart; but his reaction to her bruise was so darn perfect. And the way she described their heartbeats being the same was such a good parallel to her scene with Midas earlier in the book, where she mentioned that they were beating out of tune. So good. I love him.

AND NOW THERE’S A SLADE CHAPTER??? I can die happy now. THEY HAD SEX AKDJSOWNWOSNSNW I’M SO HAPPY. It’s officially 4 in the morning and I have to be up in 3 hours but it was worth it. I can go to sleep happily now. Her opening up to him and then the sex from his perspective was absolutely perfect. And her ribbons crack me up; the way they were going through his bed before he came in, LMAO. But holy crap Midas is going to FLIP. (hide spoiler)]

Holy shit. Holy fucking shit. HE CUT OFF HER RIBBONS AND HE DRUGGED HER??? I’m actually crying, I feel SO bad for her! Shit, I hate him. I’m glad she fought the drug though. I definitely thought ‘Digby’ would actually be the sculptor guy, but apparently not. Poor Digby. I’m so heartbroken for her ribbons, I hope they’ll regrow.. Shit, I WANT MIDAS DEAD. (hide spoiler)]

She should’ve just did what Midas wanted though, because at least then she’d be free of him for a little while and she could’ve run without him knowing that she was herself again.

HOLY SHIT HE’S BARDEN EAST, DID NOT SEE THAT COMING. Wanted to stop reading hours ago, it’s now 1:15 am and we all know I’m going to finish it tonight. I’m not alright.

SLADE SAW HER YES BURN DOWN THE WORLD FOR HER PLS oh and Midas thinks he has the commander lmao he’s not the real one love. I knew Midas was behind the attack on her as a kid though, and he wasn’t the real hero. But everything else that was revealed did shock me.

Oh no oh no oh no the prince was poisoned and it definitely looks like Slade’s power; HE’S GOING TO FRAME HIM ISNT HE???? Please don’t let this end badly, I cannot stand a cliffhanger. I’m begging you. (hide spoiler)]

2 in the morning, but I’ve finished. Holy crap I need the next book. (view spoiler)[So fake Rip is his brother! That’s cool, didn’t know he had one. Did think that whatever he was hiding in that little village, the one they wanted to hide from Midas, was his family but idk, probably his mother and father at least. Although he responded weirdly to his dad so maybe he was a jerk and he's just hiding his mother? Or the entrance to the fae world of course.

Anyway, I can’t believe Midas is dead. Actually kiiiind of disappointed with how quickly that was over with. Auren’s power was very cool, the way she could use all the gold she ever made! Loved it. But she better be okay and NOT MAD at Rip for using his power on her, he seriously didn’t have a choice. I hate that we now have to wait so long dammit!!! Aaaah what a book. Loved this one by the way if it wasn’t obvious from my maaaaany updates. I loved the Slade chapter at the end :) Kaila is going to be biiiiig trouble, she knows the truth, but Midas is at least over with. Bye asshole ugh. Kaila’s going to be the enemy in the next book for sure. Maybe together with Malina? Dammit I needed to end on a sex scene of Rip and Auren, I can’t freaking sleep now can I?? (hide spoiler)]
