01 - A Book Published in 2022
I am only just starting to pay attention to next year's releases, but here are some I'm looking at so far:Firstly, what had been my most anticipated book of this year but got pushed back. Fingers crossed for this year! It's The Thin Man in space!
The Spare Man
Amari and the Great Game - Voted for Amari this year, looking forward to her next book
The Paradox Hotel - A locked-room murder mystery set at a hotel for time travelers. Sign. Me. Up.
The Fortune Men
Under Lock & Skeleton Key - New book from the author of the Jaya Jones books, which were so fun. Impossible crime story involving Secret Staircase Construction, who build hidden things in people's homes. Fun!
The Kaiju Preservation Society - a Scalzi premise is often a fun premise
The Cartographers - a highly imaginative thriller about a young woman who discovers a strange map in her deceased father’s belongings in his office in the NYPL
A Prayer for the Crown-Shy - next Monk & Robot book
Her Hidden Genius - Marie Benedict's next real woman novelization subject is Rosalind Franklin!
Sea of Tranquility - Emily St. John Mandel
You Made a Fool of Death with Your Beauty: A Novel - I don't usually love romance novels, but I will sure as heck read one by Akwaeke Emezi
I definitely want to read Lucy Foley's new release, The Paris Apartment! I think it releases in February.
Sandra wrote: "I can't wait for Bloodmarked, the sequel to Legendborn"Me too, Legendborn was a surprise favourite for me!
A few more hiding in my library holds listThe Appeal (in the States)
Marion Lane and the Deadly Rose - second Marion Lane book
I'm looking forward to The Purveli - I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, and then went back and devoured The Immortal Guardians series that this series spun off from. I listened to them all on audio and am a forever fan of Kristen Potter's narration.
I'm finding this list super helpful: ALL THE HORROR BOOKS WE’RE [TOR-NIGHTFIRE] EXCITED ABOUT IN 2022. (and I get an error message when I try to link to it - ??? Stupid spammers ruining things.)
https://tornightfire.com/all-the-horr...
I'm looking forward to Why Design Matters: Conversations with the World's Most Creative People, coming out Feb 22 (which seems like it should get bonus points: 2-22-2022!
shadow fallen by sherrilyn kenyon is eing released in April 2022. I have an arc from netgalley for it at the moment which is on my tbr for this month though so I can't use it for myself alas lol

I subscribe to book boxes so whatever comes out in those, I'll use for this prompt. Plenty of good choices.

Oh, The Paradox Hotel sounds excellent, thanks for that rec!
The next book in The Checquy Files series is due in October, so I'm looking forward to that. The first two books, particular the first, are excellent if anyone wants to check them out.Blitz by Daniel O'Malley

ooooh, thank you for posting this! OK, there's my essential TBR. Looking for Nathan Balingrud, but nothing yet for 2022. I live in hope....
i'll be reading Moon Witch, Spider King by Marlon James, the second book in his currently ongoing trilogy. i highly recommend the first book Black Leopard, Red Wolf to anyone who's looking for a gritty, adult fantasy inspired by african mythology. just be warned it's quite gruesome, so look up content warnings if you're concerned about any kind of graphic violence.
I'll be holding off on this category for a couple of reasons. 1.) I don't know which books are coming out so I don't know what to look for and 2.) I always love going into the new release sections at bookstores and discovering what I might find.So this is certainly one I'm looking forward to discovering.
For anyone interested in nonfiction books that will be released in 2022 I found a GoodReads link:https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...
I was able to find several interesting ones which I'm now looking forward to.

I only read a handful of nonfiction each year, but I took a look at that list and HELLO THERE IS A GRAPHIC NOVEL ABOUT THE HISTORY OF PINBALL
Pinball: A Graphic History of the Silver Ball
That's not something I ever knew I wanted to read, but now I really want to read it! (And it's published by First Second, which is practically a guarantee of awesomeness.)

It's all how you define "published" - if a paperback version coming out in 2022 means to you that book was published in 2022, then go for it.

That's great you were able to find something! I really liked that list and might add others too.
I'm definitely going to read Ruta Sepetys's new book I Must Betray You, out on February 1. Such an amazing writer!
Found another that will be of interest to me. Educating the Enemy: Teaching Nazis and Mexicans in the Cold War BorderlandsI love WWII history and this particular aspect, WWII and how it affected Hispanics, is something that's rarely touched upon.

Thanks for sharing the list.

You're welcome! :)
For this one I will be reading Educating the Enemy: Teaching Nazis and Mexicans in the Cold War Borderlands . It's an upcoming book that was recommended to me by a friend. I liked it because I've never heard of this history before. There's so many books out there regarding segregation between whites and African Americans but the ones I always have a hard time coming across are segregated events regarding Hispanics.

Sounds like a really good book.
I'm currently reading The Maid and so this might actually get to be one of my first finished prompts of the year.
I just finished the book I'm using for this prompt, In Every Generation, which releases January 4th!
Harlem Sunset by Nekesa Aria is coming out this year! It’s the sequel to her debut novel Dead Dead Girls.
What new book are you most excited about?I am excited to read Lucy Foley’s new book The Paris Apartment when it comes out. I’m also excited about Book Lovers by Emily Henry! I look forward to getting some other ideas from this thread.
I read One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle
I won this book as an ARC for the goodreads giveaways...it released 3/1/2022
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
SQUEEEEE!! It finally has a date! March 29! I don't know if I've ever been this excited for a memoir. Nanette was AMAZING. Ten Steps to Nanette by Hannah Gadsby

I'll be honest, I almost never know what's coming out until it's come out and then I'm just like 'huh, did that come out?' but my brain is a mess and time is an illusion. But Daughter of the Moon Goddess is one that I'm very excited for and I think it might be coming in a special way to me so I look forward to it. The Ivory Key as well, and it might be here very soon. Other than that, I'll keep an eye open and see what catches my interest.
I've got several which I'm looking forward to already so it's going to be hard to choose:Sea of Tranquility
The Nineties
The Earth Is All That Lasts: Crazy Horse, Sitting Bull, and the Last Stand of the Great Sioux Nation
The Emergency: A Year of Healing and Heartbreak in a Chicago ER
Fangirl, Vol. 2: The Manga

What new book are you most excited about? Martha Wells MIGHT have a new book coming this year (Witch King) but with publishing dates getting pushed back so often, I'm afraid it will go into 2023.
The sequel to Rebecca Roanhorse's fantasy novel looks like a sure thing though!! I'm excited for Fevered Star!
