Our November Reading Challenge is "The Quote Reading Challenge"! It is an individual challenge and its duration is from November 1st to November 30th! Please read the description carefully before you join.
So, this reading challenge is a little different from all our others. There won't be prompts that you will have to complete, or a specific ammount of books that you should read. There is only one main rule.
If you sign up, you will also need to post a quote from a book. The quote must be at least 10 words, but you can do with more. Now, you must read books with titles that contain words from the quote. (I'll have an example below, it case this isn't really understood). Your goal is to eventually collect all the words you need for the quote to be complited! Here is an example:
I'll pick the quote “Open your eyes and see what you can with them before they close forever.” (It's a quote by Anthony Doerr in All the Light We Cannot See)
What I have to do, is to find the words that are contained to the quote, in book titles, that I will read this month. The books I would read could be:
Open - Open Book
your - Call Me By Your Name
eyes - The Eye of the World
and - And Then There Were None
see - All the Light We Cannot See
what - What If It's Us
you - I'll Give You the Sun
can - Two Can Keep a Secret
with - It Ends with Us
them - Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
before - Me Before You
they - They Both Die at the End
close - This Close to Okay
forever - The Problem with Forever
Some important rules
1. Although no page count affects your scoring, books under 100 pages will not count.
2. If a title contains more that one word of the quote, they all count!
3. You can complete words in any order you like, you don't have to start with the first one.
4. It is not essential for you to finish all the words of the quote. You might complete only some of them.
5. You can't pledge 2 books for the same word.
6. If a word that can be found in the quote, can also be found in the title, but in a different form, it counts! E.g. if you're looking for the word story, and you find a book that contains the word stories in title, it still counts. Same with verbs. If, for example, you're looking for the verb change and find changed, or changes, it counts too!
Scoring
Every time you complete a word, you will get 10 points. If you finish the whole quote, you get 50 points extra, and you can also start with a new one! The person that will have collected the most points till the end of the challenge will be the winner, and as an award will be a mod for a week!
How to pledge your books
On your challenge's page which will be created by a mod once you sign up, you pledge your books like that:
Book: (if you can't link the book, make sure to include the author too)
Page Count: (to make sure if it is more than 100 pages)
Word(s): The word(s) that match with the quote's.
A mod will keep your score, so you don't have to be bothered about it.
