Last year around mid January I read Kiss of the Highlander so I decided to go with the next book in the series: The Dark Highlander

I read The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue last year and have A Darker Shade of Magic on my TBR but I'm not sure of the connection between the two...
Just finished The Unlikely Adventures of the Shergill Sisters by Balli Kaur Jaswal. Last year, I read Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows by the same author. Both are very good.

It's the same author.
I just finished The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah for this prompt. Last year I read The Great Alone by the author. It was my first read by her and I was curious to read more of her work.

I was going to read a book by Elif Shafak(who I'd recommend) as I read and enjoyed Honour and 10 Minutes 38 Seconds in This Strange World, but in December I read Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler and it was so good that I wanted to read the second part of the duology, Parable of the Talents. These books are so prescient it is scary - but also excellent reads.

I just finished the Sentence and I think a prompt around that would be so good for next year! She mentioned so many books I've marked to read!
Eta- Bless Harper Collins for posting the list. I might only read off of it next year! https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/028...

I read The Lost Apothecary inspired by last year's read of Mudlark: In Search of London's Past Along the River Thames. I rarely go on Facebook and say "here's what I just read" but I loved Mudlark so much I did and a bunch of people said they had just finished the Lost Apothecary about a woman who goes mudlarking, finds a bottle, and searches for it's history.
A connection made for this prompt!

What are you reading for this prompt, and do you have any recommendations? I read Rosemary: The Hidden Kennedy Daughter. I actually listened to it on audio. Last year I listened to The House of Kennedy so I thought this would be a good fit to slot it in.I really enjoyed listening to Rosemary: The Hidden Kennedy Daughter. I felt like I learned a lot. It's interesting to see how far we've come and so horrible to hear of what used to be done.
I really want to connect this to an author or topic I read last year ( there weren't many LOL) so I chose What We Saw by Aaron Hartzler ( connected to Whisper Network - # me too movement) BUT, I have also been reading the Outlander series from the beginning and just finished A Breath of Snow and Ashes so that's been used to check this prompt off for now.
I read Can You Forgive Her? by Anthony Trollope. Last year I read Framley Parsonage and Dr. Thorne. I'm really loving Trollope.

Last year I listened to ..."I also listened to that book last month. I thought it was fascinating. Sad, but fascinating. I used it for prompt #3: A book with 22 or more letters in the title.
I am reading Barking to the Choir: The Power of Radical Kinship for this prompt. I listened to Father Boyle's first book, Tattoos on the Heart: The Power of Boundless Compassion last year and really enjoyed it.
I read The Liar’s Knot by M.A. Carrick which is the sequel to The Mask of Mirrors, probably my favourite book of 2021. I wanted to do something other than continue a series for this prompt, but since I had so many series on the go I figured I had to take the opportunity.
I just finished:Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay by Elena Ferrante - 3* - My Review
This is book #3 in the Neapolitan Quartet. I read book #2 in 2021.
After having read the Kopenhagen Trilogy last year, I have now read Tove Ditlevsen's Gesichter (The Faces).
I read The Three Mothers: How the Mothers of Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and James Baldwin Shaped a Nation by Anna Malaika Tubbs. This relates to a book I read last year, Four Hundred Souls: A Community History of African America, 1619-2019, which was edited by Ibram X. Kendi. The relationship is two-fold. Both books cover different aspects of African American history, and Ibram X. Kendi, the editor my read from last year, also blurbed my read from this year.I would very much recommend Three Mothers. It not only enlightened me to the fact that the three men we are very much familiar with did not just start their activists paths on their own, but were very much influenced by the activism of their mothers, and sometimes fathers and grandparents as well. Their mothers in particular were very impressive women!
For this one, I am currently listening to the audiobook of Young Mungo by Douglas Stuart. This author's previous book, Shuggie Bain, was my favorite book I read in 2021. Both are incredibly heartbreaking. I highly recommend the audiobooks. The narrator's thick Scottish brogue really adds to the enjoyment of these books.
I finished The Burning God for this prompt, I read the first book in the Poppy War series last July and with the holds on the library, I finally got to the last book now.

Anything Erdrich writes, I love. I'm about to create another booklist based on those books she recommended. I originally wanted to read The Beet Queen, but could only get my hands on The Sentence.
I would also recommend the Divergent Series (don't let the last movie deter you from reading). The Red Queen is okay. And finally, I'd read Sula by Toni Morrison. Because Toni Morrison is the first author I'd read anything from, and Louise Erdrich is the second.
Last year I read The Empress of Salt and Fortune by Nghi Vo. This year I read the arc of Siren Queen this author (it comes out May 10th).
This is one of my favorite prompts. These are the three books that were inspired by books I read in 2021.No One Is Too Small to Make a Difference byGreta Thunberg. Greta is discussed in Bewilderment. She inspires a young character to take action for the environment. I would probably not have read her book otherwise.
A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. This is related to books I read in 2021 involving communism and conformity.: The Sympathizer and Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress.
The Three-Body Problem. I was inspired to read this book on the Chinese cultural revolution after reading Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress. I might also read a book by Balzac that they were reading in the story.
I'm reading First Person Singular: Stories by the Japanese author Haruki Murakami. I am connecting to a book titled I am a Japanese Writer I read last year.
I read The Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan. In 2021 I read another Jenny Colgan novel, Sunrise by the Sea
After reading and loving Nghi Vo's The Chosen and the Beautiful last year, I read her May 2022 release, Siren Queen for this prompt. Vo has such a cool way of writing about retro themes, Hollywood and yesteryear, in general, so either book would be a great fit for a Roaring 20s prompt. Here's hoping one makes it into the ATY 2023 challenge.
I keep changing my mind on this one but being late in the year, I am sticking with The Death of Ivan Ilych by Tolstoy. Last year I read Tolstoy, Rasputin, Others, and Me: The Best of Teffi.
