I read this book in middle school, probably around 2016-17 and the majority of the books in that library are post-2000 so that’s how I was able to pin down the date. I don’t remember much at all but the big villain was a guy named Emperor Incarnadine or something like that. I’m pretty sure it was told from multiple POVS. I think Incarnadine had a castle in the middle of the ocean? Part of the plot was that he imprisoned some people and possibly the mc’s brother/relative. Also I think this was a series.
