My son read this book between 2014 and 2019. The book is about two teens, a boy and a girl. The young woman has the ability to go into books. The young man sees her do it (he saw her go into Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), and either blackmails her to allow him to go into a book with her or sneaks in immediately after her (my son isn't sure). The girl apparently learned to do this from her father, who went into a book but didn't return. My son does remember that they wind up in a world where either two magic factions are at war or they are trying to obliterate magic altogether, but he does know they are trying to help a magician. They use his lab but he can't remember what for. He remembers a scene where the teens are trapped in a library while the bad forces surround it. He also mentioned a giant, magical spaceship thing and the magician's assistant. He says he thinks the cover had a tower, a dragon, and a kid in a cloak.
