Ayana Kids/YA book set in India with two sisters who have an Indian nanny. One sister explores in jungle and meets a young boy who cares for animals.

Other things I can remember:

- at some point the nanny goes away to visit a sick family member in another village

- the boy in the jungle lives with his grandmother, I think

-at some point there’s something about white socks, and teeth falling out if you brush them too much and spinach. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think these might all be things the nanny says but the girl possibly has a dream where they all smoosh together.

Tab (tabbrown) | 5084 comments How many years ago did you read this book?
Time period story takes place?
Part of a series?
Anything about the cover?
What country were you in when you read the book? What language?

Read in Australia in English. I'm guessing it was late 90s/early 2000s. Not part of a series. No idea on the time period or the cover, sorry.

Even with the name there's almost nothing available online about it! How did you figure it out? Have you read it?

Rainbowheart | 28714 comments I haven't read it, but I went to Archive.org and typed in "spinach" "white socks" and "ayah" (which I knew was the Indian word for nanny) and it came up as the first result.
