You are going to list 5 books. No links. Your buddy will pick one of the 5 based on your descriptions only. Examples:
Book 1:
Historical Fiction
English Nobility
Water Hazard
Horses
Book 2:
Science Fiction
Age before beauty
Space station
Creatures from outer space.
Book 3:
Romance

thanks Janice
My shelf is all fixed up now and linked to my comment above. I added a bunch of books for the last challenge that I enjoyed so whoever got my shelf could have those as options and I removed them all. I also removed any that I read since starting the shelf and removed anything I might need for the yearly challenge or that's too short. Then needed to add a bunch because I think I was down to about 4 books. lol It probably would have been easier to start a new shelf, but I'm kind of attached to this one now. :) It is all neat and happy now. I can't wait to see which book I end up with!
Hi, I would like to participate! Do I understand correctly, I make a shelf of books that I want to read, and my buddy describes 5 books from that shelf, and then I choose one of those to read? So I end up reading a book from my own shelf, right?
Here's my shelf:

You don't need to create a new shelf. You can use your TBR or other shelf as you prefer. Some of us have long and lengthy TBR's and it might be easier to whittle it down. Or, you might want to make a shelf of books that you want to read as a priority.
I should add that your shelf should contain a good sampling of choices. I would recommend that you have at least 30 books on your shelf.

Love this! I'm going to sign up, not done a challenge for AGES, and try to prioritise it. Here is my book list https://www.goodreads.com/review/list... Can I specify something less than 400 pages please and nothing that might be a work-related book?! Sorry, I really should make a buddy challenge list at some point, I missed out doing that when you all did it last.

I think we should wait until after the challenge is over in case your first pick is a dud and you just can't read it. You'll be allowed to pick again.

This month, we are going to go on a blind date - with a book. Sign up below if you want to participate along with a link to the shelf you want your buddy to use. On Tuesday evening, I will draw names and assign a buddy. You will go to your buddy's assigned shelf, pick 5 books and write descriptions for them. Your buddy will pick one of the books based solely on that description and that will be their challenge book for the month.
For example: One of the books on my TBR is Henna House
The description for it could be:
Book 1:
Historical Fiction
1920's
Tattoos
Women
Betrayal
If you've read the book, you would have further insight into the contents and you may want your clues to include character hints, setting hints, etc. Something like, "Character you love to hate." Or, "Exotic romantic beach". Try not to make obvious descriptors that would give the book away. I could put "Jewish Tradition" as a clue in the example above but it might be too identifying. List no more than 5 descriptors per book.
As a reminder, you may need to add your buddy as a friend if you have privacy settings on your shelves.
Thanks to Sarah, who made this suggestion in the suggestion thread back in 2015.
General Rules:
1. The book may be in any format - paperback, ebook, audiobook.
2. The book may NOT be combined with the Year Long Challenge.
3. The book must be read between October 1 and October 31, 2021 (based on your local time zone).
4. The challenge is for one book. You may read more books if you chose but you may only report one.
5. The book must be 175 pages or more determined by the issue you read.
In the case of ebooks & audiobooks, use the hardcover or paperback edition to determine page length. From the book page, select “all editions”, then select the first paper edition as your guide. If reading an ebook and there is no paper edition, the ebook book must be at least 250 pages. If reading an audiobook and there is no paper edition, your book must be a minimum of 6 hours long.
Report your finished books in the reporting thread using your WoF name.
Please tell us who was your buddy, why you picked your book, and what you thought of it. Please be analytical in your presentation, and not just that you liked it or didn't. We want to know why.
