Last time I read this series I tossed everything aside to read few thousand pages.

Not this time! I'm reading 1 and walking away.

I have a bit of a toss up too. But for another challenge I need a book that starts with an R so I guess that narrowed it down for me. Almost forgot what I needed for that Chelle eye. Whoops

I'm vacillating between finishing a series that I'm not crazy about but A. Need for Bingo and B. it would feel nice to never have to think about that trilogy again OR using this convenient excuse to read the next book of that Sam Burns alien series.

I'm 3 long as F*** books in, and you couldn't leave it in a resting point still?
I'm hooked already, but Dang it! I need a small break. But NOOOOOO! You have to end shit like that AGAIN!



I felt more of a drag in this one, than the prior 2. I think it was the jumping around character to character. And the fact that I have been reading nonstop for 5 days.

RENO--Really, Reno is the one that finally made me put the book down for a minute and absorb what was happening. Of course it didn't last long. Reno felt all the feelz for about 10 minutes before he snapped back.

At times, when bad stuff was happening to Reno and Reaver, and pause and think of book 1.
Not so fun when your on the other end, is it?
But, since I've connected to the characters, even though they have done some messed up stuff, I still felt bad for what they where going through. I want them to get a HEA.

They better eventually get a HEA, you hear me!?!



I need a break....but I won't be able to stay away for long. A day, maybe 2 and I'll be back for more punishment.

I am so enjoying this series. I’m a sucker for Maddox’s fantasy worlds. I’ve been just devouring her first series this month and this book is just another in the line (only one and some shorts left). This volumes focused on the tortured Seb who ran away from town in an earlier volume, incomplete Lucas who has been seeking him, and everyone’s favorite doctor Elliot. Sadly we lacked the other beloved men of Stallion Ridge since this book was mostly set away from the town and familiar characters, yet it didn’t detract from the story. We finally got some of Elliots secret past, and Lucas finally found his love. I was a bit worried there would be heavier angst in the reunion but things fell into place with Elliot as the patient buffer between Seb and Lucas. Plus, I did enjoy the new characters. As usual for Maddox her action scenes balance out the emotional scenes to keep the book fascinating. I loved the additional world building and the deeper sides of our romantic trio that were revealed. Need to read the last one!
Though the brief appearance of an unnamed centaur reminded me of the mystery of Calhoun’s brother that still hasn’t been solved….

2021 Personal Goals Challenge

I always start out nice and clean, but by the end of the year it gets messy.

But I put links to all my challenge on my thread...so I can find everything.

I usually start off with 3 posts.
Annual and Longer run challenges.
Monthly Challenges
and notes.

I put all my challenge links there, even ones for other groups.

I also use it to write myself notes...when I'm away from home, to remind myself of things.

They do a new thread every year.

You are getting notifications for every posting? Make a quick list of ones you actually want to get notifications for then go to the MM group main page and edit membership. There should be a way to turn off notifications (Scratch that, it should be somewhere in your account settings not in the group settings. I think. Somewhere. I just did it like a month ago for another group, but can’t seem to find it again….). Then go to those threads you do want, scroll to the bottom and follow each individual thread instead of all of the group activity.

I now have to read 5 books...almost any books, to get back on track.

But I'm in between on all my challenges, and I don't know what to read.

I need a plan. I have jury duty tomorrow. I might not be able to read anything, or I might have hours with nothing to do but read.

I guess start a new series that you thought was interesting? Or read the next book in a series you’ve already started? (The second one is what I try to do when I’m between on challenges, but sometimes I go for the first option instead which is why I have way too many series in progress.) Eh, the book wasn't that bad, but it was seriously the exact line up of plot-points you would expect from the blurb. The author's writing might not be for me either because I've read several books by Alessandra Hazard and the like (with the exact same plot because it's textbook) and didn't feel as disappointed with them. I've heard good things about later books in the series so I might eventually get around to them.

Review: I love the author’s Mythmatched Universe. I just want more now that I’ve read most of them! This was a nice addition in that it circled back to the first book in the first series. [I did skip a book and a novella since this book fit with challenges I was reading, but I only felt like I missed a few details. Still probably should have read them in order as now I know who is the bad guy of the first volume and what becomes of him.] Anyways, Ewan was a sweet and worn down man who needed someone to trust and he found it in the medical witch nearby without knowing that he was surrounded by a world of supernaturals. A world he both was afraid of and belonged to. The emotional conflicts that Ewan went through trying to give his heart away while protecting his family were sweet, (view spoiler)[though the other clans nearby ending did sorta feel like it popped conveniently out of nowhere. Also I wish there was a bit more follow up on the curse disease and the revelation of the hidden achubyddion. They had to go to every single supe around the world individually to heal them(except for vampires)? All while Alun stood by limiting their daily healing quota. Did the other clans of achubyddion come out of hiding and help and that’s why the world was cured by the time the two months had passed for the final chapter? How did that go? Ewan had so much hesitation even after acknowledging that he wasn’t using his gifts like he craved, so how did the other clans around the world take the call to help? I feel like there should have been a bit of a lengthier time gap between the last two chapters and maybe a bit more info slipped into that last one… (hide spoiler)]

Review: While this wasn’t quite the rollercoaster of emotions that the previous book was, it was still an interesting ride. I absolutely adored Wentworth’s character as well as his banter with Elliot when they were on good terms, and can’t wait to see more of him and Elliot as side characters in future books. Speaking of, it was fun to see almost all of our previous main characters and some familiar side characters back and getting a bit more of their own stories told. I need a Brandon story! There are only six Jane Austen books, so I don’t think Brandon will be getting his own book. Drat! (Unless Brandon is paired up with Zach in book six…. That’d actually be really cute).
