TART Challenge - Round 4 - Book Devouring Dragons (13)
Lorene wrote: "I'm having a bit of a toss-up between a few books. But for another challenge I need a book that starts with an R so I guess that narrowed it down for me. Almost forgot what I needed for that Chelle eye. Whoops
I'm vacillating between finishing a series that I'm not crazy about but A. Need for Bingo and B. it would feel nice to never have to think about that trilogy again OR using this convenient excuse to read the next book of that Sam Burns alien series.Still deciding XD

Runaway 245pg KU
Starts with R and has 35 reviews
I haven't read it, so idk if it's any good.
I try to get my books to fit into as many challenges as possible.
I'm reading over 600 pages for mine, so it will count in another challenge. But I'm blowing through it pretty fast. I'm hoping to be done tonight...but it might have to wait til tomorrow to finish.
I can't believe I finished today.Hubby was busy trying to fix the hot water, and kids were gone, so I actually had time for my book.

I am so enjoying this series. I’m a sucker for Maddox’s fantasy worlds. I’ve been just devouring her first series this month and this book is just another in the line (only one and some shorts left). This volumes focused on the tortured Seb who ran away from town in an earlier volume, incomplete Lucas who has been seeking him, and everyone’s favorite doctor Elliot. Sadly we lacked the other beloved men of Stallion Ridge since this book was mostly set away from the town and familiar characters, yet it didn’t detract from the story. We finally got some of Elliots secret past, and Lucas finally found his love. I was a bit worried there would be heavier angst in the reunion but things fell into place with Elliot as the patient buffer between Seb and Lucas. Plus, I did enjoy the new characters. As usual for Maddox her action scenes balance out the emotional scenes to keep the book fascinating. I loved the additional world building and the deeper sides of our romantic trio that were revealed. Need to read the last one!
Though the brief appearance of an unnamed centaur reminded me of the mystery of Calhoun’s brother that still hasn’t been solved….

Whoops! Meant to post it then click the book link to get that info and fill it in. Got distracted. Thanks.
I started her works with that book too. Can’t wait for the rest of the series. Before I got on the road I was checking Amazon once a day to see if the fourth book has been announced yet. Lol. I’m really enjoying this series of hers too. (Obviously)

Review: I do like this series but not as much as I liked Red Dirt Heart. A lot of people disliked Charlie's constant mopey musings in RDH but it adds something to the story. I think I need a little bit of angst with my fluff is all, but I did like this!
Sorry for the late posting! Been a crazy week and I'm having a devil of a time dealing with goodreads notifications - I basically get a notification anyone posts in a thread in the MM group and I can't seen to figure out how to turn it off. It gets really frustrating to deal with finding the pages of the competitions I'm enrolled in. I'm about to create desktop links just to make my life easier LOL

2021 Personal Goals Challenge
I always start out nice and clean, but by the end of the year it gets messy.
But I put links to all my challenge on my thread...so I can find everything.
I usually start off with 3 posts.
Annual and Longer run challenges.
Monthly Challenges
and notes.
I put all my challenge links there, even ones for other groups.
I also use it to write myself notes...when I'm away from home, to remind myself of things.
They do a new thread every year.

I'm lost here.My planned reading took a dive.
I now have to read 5 books...almost any books, to get back on track.
But I'm in between on all my challenges, and I don't know what to read.
I need a plan. I have jury duty tomorrow. I might not be able to read anything, or I might have hours with nothing to do but read.

I guess start a new series that you thought was interesting? Or read the next book in a series you’ve already started? (The second one is what I try to do when I’m between on challenges, but sometimes I go for the first option instead which is why I have way too many series in progress.) What sorta of book or series are you needing for challenges?

Since I am not waiting for corrections - yet, here is your next task!Task 4 - 15. Read a minimum of 600 pages in books with an audio edition.
You do not need to listen to the audio, but an audio edition must be available for you book to work for this task! Please include a link to the audio edition in your completion post. Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count.
Lorene and Emeli Still to make edits.
This tasks is easy.
I'm going with an urban fantasy.

I have two in mind but haven’t decided which to go with yet:Cowboy Seeks Husband (332pgs)
OR

Task is minimum 600 pages, but still requires every play read a book that qualifies. We should hit 600 pages early.
So Lorene and Emeli, don't worry about reading something long, unless you just want too.
150pages is the minimum page count...and we'll make 600 pages easily.

Sorry you got a stinker Lorene.Hope your next read is better.
I'm in the post SH slump. I've been on the run constantly the last couple weeks. I think after my sons wedding, things will settle down. Saturday is the big day.
Eh, the book wasn't that bad, but it was seriously the exact line up of plot-points you would expect from the blurb. The author's writing might not be for me either because I've read several books by Alessandra Hazard and the like (with the exact same plot because it's textbook) and didn't feel as disappointed with them. I've heard good things about later books in the series so I might eventually get around to them.Congrats to your son! I hope you have wonderful day on Saturday!
So I didn’t go with either of my early choices. Whoops! Still finished one though. Congrats Skye Blue!
So we are at 324+198+229=751 so far. Looks good team! That means Emeli can finish the book she is reading and we can check in or she can use one of her passes.

Review: I love the author’s Mythmatched Universe. I just want more now that I’ve read most of them! This was a nice addition in that it circled back to the first book in the first series. [I did skip a book and a novella since this book fit with challenges I was reading, but I only felt like I missed a few details. Still probably should have read them in order as now I know who is the bad guy of the first volume and what becomes of him.] Anyways, Ewan was a sweet and worn down man who needed someone to trust and he found it in the medical witch nearby without knowing that he was surrounded by a world of supernaturals. A world he both was afraid of and belonged to. The emotional conflicts that Ewan went through trying to give his heart away while protecting his family were sweet, (view spoiler)

Review: While this wasn’t quite the rollercoaster of emotions that the previous book was, it was still an interesting ride. I absolutely adored Wentworth’s character as well as his banter with Elliot when they were on good terms, and can’t wait to see more of him and Elliot as side characters in future books. Speaking of, it was fun to see almost all of our previous main characters and some familiar side characters back and getting a bit more of their own stories told. I need a Brandon story! There are only six Jane Austen books, so I don’t think Brandon will be getting his own book. Drat! (Unless Brandon is paired up with Zach in book six…. That’d actually be really cute).
