Futuristic young adult novel where people have to share their children by sending them to other families this is due to the thinning ozone layer I read this book in junior high around 1996 the main character David is sent to live with a woman named mommy for a time but mommy is actually keeping all the children sent to her and not returning them I think the main characters name was David but I am not sure his friend notices he is been gone and starts to search for him David is taught outdoor survival skills for some reason I cannot remember they were some creepy dream sequences where mommy drugs David one dream people were walking around with globes on their heads
