Marked Down For Murder – Josie Belle – 2**
Book four in the Good Buy Girls cozy mystery series. I figured out the culprit about two minutes after the murder happened. I’m glad I’m done with this series.

You Never Can Tell – Kathleen Eagle – 2**
The story focuses on Heather Riordan, a journalist on the trail of a story, and Kole Kills Crow, an escaped con living in the remote backwoods of northern Minnesota. I was intrigued by this premise and the promise of some exploration of issues of social justice in re the Native American population. What I got was a romance and not a very good one at that.

I'm a little more than 1/2 way through Wanted by the Alpha by Laxmi Hariharan and I'm contemplating sticking a DNF label on it and calling it quits. Zero world building. I'm confused as to what these "people" are. The world building that it did do stated because of global warming the world's occupants became one of three things....an Alpha, an Omega, or a Beta. I don't understand any of it and since I've read tons of paranormal books it shouldn't be too hard for me to grasp unless the author fails to deliver basic understanding. All I've got out of it is the Alphas are abusers and Omegas are all women in need of an Alpha to sex her during her "in heat" times. Also, it seems the Omegas don't have any power or choice on which Alpha does them and in many cases it is no more than rape. Oh and their owners (I mean their fathers) sell them to the richest or most powerful Alphas. The Betas seem to be nothing more than whipping posts. I don't know why this prequel got so many good ratings.

I'm confuse..."I'm to the place that when I don't like a book, I'm not going to waste more time on it. Today I started an audiobook, listened for 1/2 hour, and said "That's enough." I looked to see what other audiobooks I had available, and tried another one. That one I listened to for over an hour. I was bored and couldn't even tell what they were talking about. My mind was just wondering. Gave up on that one too. I'm not even going to bother to "DNF" them since I didn't make it too far into these books.

The High Tide Club – Mary Kay Andrews – 2**
Ninety-nine-year-old Josephine Bettendorf Warrick specifically asks for attorney Brooke Trappnell to draft a new will. But when Brooke goes to Josephine’s private island, she’s in for a few surprises. I’ve read other books by Mary Kay Andrews and I usually find them entertaining – a nice relaxing read. But I didn’t think the author had a good handle on this plot. It seemed to go in too many directions (not helped by the dual timelines). Too much effort (IMHO) to include a mystery (or three). It DID satisfy a few challenges, and it was a fast read/listen.
