This is the sequel to Hannah’s best-selling Firefly Lane , which I had completely forgotten that I read. My rating of this book is the same as for the earlier one. No wonder I steered clear of Hannah for so long.

Home Front – Kristin Hannah – 1*
Hannah is somewhat like Jodi Picoult in that she picks issues to address in her books that might be in the public’s eye, and which could lead to serious discussion. This time she’s focusing on PTSD in veterans. However, Hannah relies on emotional manipulation to tell her stories, and that just makes me roll my eyes. And no matter what issue she’s addressing, her plotting is pretty formulaic.

Angel Falls – Kristin Hannah – 2**
Mom is in a coma, and the plot focuses on the difficulties the family has coping with their wife / mother’s condition. Yada Yada Yada. I feel like my reviews are all starting to sound the same … probably because this is my third book by Hannah in the last week, and they all follow a predictable formula. She gets an extra star this time because it filled the hours I spent in a waiting room while my friend was having surgery.
