It looks like there are several others working on books with pets but good to know that if necessary you have my back on the pet rock :)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments I just looked and we are one away from every single creature now! Excited to nab some of them!

Laurel Kristick | 874 comments We've caught a dragon! I just finished my book club book and it is definitely a red cover:

The Coddling of the American Mind How Good Intentions and Bad Ideas Are Setting Up a Generation for Failure by Jonathan Haidt

Yes, I loved it! I found it funny and weird and pretty dark, and loved it all. I kept reading out the funniest bits to my mom every time she asked why I was giggling so much.

message 55: by Roxana (new)

Roxana (luminate) | 775 comments I added The Commodore for the main character with a pet (I'd forgotten Maturin's potto in this one!) and The Last Beautiful Girl on paranormal, though that could certainly also get moved to the long hair prompt if needed.

I'm reading Silence in the Library now, and I'd say it counts for long hair, though it's up in a bun for this image, right? Silence in the Library (Lily Adler Mystery #2) by Katharine Schellman

And I'm glad Emily, you have The Guncle going, because I could not find a yellow covered book in my upcoming tbr for the life of me, lol.

I think paranormal is good, I'll definitely finish a black and white cover this week if no one else gets to it, since I'm driving to visit my brother tomorrow or Thurs and will get at least 7.5 hours out of that.

A bun definitely means long enough hair I think. I clicked and stared at that silhouette since it looked like a head with two faces!

I didn't notice it before, but now I can't stop seeing it that way 😂

message 59: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments Some day I’ll finish a book, I swear! By the time that happens, they will probably only count for pages and hours, oh well!

message 60: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 259 comments We can get multiples of each monster (except the Sphinx), so the books we finish later on will still count. I finished a short book on Sunday but it looks like it’ll be at least two or three days before I finish either of the two I’m reading. I’m glad we have some very prolific readers on our team—you all rock!

Funny, weird and dark sounds just right to me, thanks for sharing your thoughts!

message 62: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Kristick | 874 comments And we got an Ogre!

Does someone have a book with a yellow cover? I've looked through my library books and unread Kindle books and couldn't find one.

message 63: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments I finished Greenwood at 505 pages! Not sure which category is best to slot it into, but I updated all the options on the Plans tab.

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11203 comments Mod
I'm hoping to finish The Guncle by tomorrow, and it will work for yellow cover! It fits a few prompts, if someone gets to the yellow cover before I do, though.

Yay for our ogre and dragon!

Chrissy, you could get us started with our next ogre on long book or green cover.

message 65: by Perri (new)

Perri | 886 comments Laurel and Roxanna you are reading circles around us. Glad you're on our team!

message 66: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments I found a book from the library with an animal print on the cover if we decide we want to try for another dragon.

message 67: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11203 comments Mod
We should definitely go for another dragon!

message 68: by Perri (new)

Perri | 886 comments Finally finished my paranormal book

message 69: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11203 comments Mod
Yay Perri!

I noticed that we had The Lost Apothecary on Banshee but it's missing now. Did someone move that on purpose? I don't see it on any of the other prompts, so I wanted to make sure it wasn't accidentally removed.

message 70: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments I’ll finish The Girl with the Louding Voice tomorrow, and can put it in fiery character if we are working on another dragon.

I think I put it as completed by accident but I'm not finished!

message 72: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments I'll finish Arsenic and Adobo tonight, think I'll put it in the source of light category (fire is a source of light) since Kathryn's source of light has a bunch of options and we have quite a few people reading books that fit long hair.

I should finish The Expats on the road tomorrow and was thinking of slotting it into red cover, though it can be for OGRE or NORBERT as well.

Will start Woman in Berlin for black and white cover tomorrow, and probably won't start my next physical book until Friday since I'm spending tomorrow with my brothers.

message 73: by Roxana (new)

Roxana (luminate) | 775 comments Didn’t get a lot of reading in today, but I’ve got several hours in airports and on planes tomorrow, so I’m hoping to finish a couple of books in that. Not sure if I’ll be able to read a lot (or check in here much) on Friday and Saturday as I’ll be bridesmaiding it up at a friend’s wedding, but hopefully some more on Sunday on my flight home before this whole thing wraps up!

message 74: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 259 comments I just finished my book, One Fell Sweep. I wasn’t sure where to put it since it fit a bunch of categories but since there were so few books planned that take place in a rural town, I put it there. I can easily move it to long hair, OGRE, light source, or NORBERT if anyone thinks that would be better.

message 75: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Kristick | 874 comments Only 64 pages yesterday - ironically, going to my Book Club meant I read very little.

message 76: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11203 comments Mod
Laurel, I always have the same problem. Book club days are usually busy for me and I get much less reading done than I intend.

I have a little less than 100 pages left of The Guncle, so if I don't finish it before bed tonight, I will finish in the morning and we can cross Sphinx off of our list!

message 77: by Perri (new)

Perri | 886 comments Laurel, what book did you read for book club? My Book Club books are hit and miss, but usually ones I wouldn't pick for myself.

message 78: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Kristick | 874 comments It was The Coddling of the American Mind: How Good Intentions and Bad Ideas Are Setting Up a Generation for Failure - not the usual choice of our group (we tend more to literature or history), but we had a good discussion. I felt the authors had some good points, but overstated their propositions.

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11203 comments Mod
Finished The Guncle, and we now have one of every monster! Great work, team!

message 80: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 1585 comments I finished The Heart Principle and added to Banshee so another on of those bites the dust!

Now I search for another book I can finish in a few days....

Interesteing Laurel, I can see a case for that. Emily The Guncle is on my TBR list did you like it?

Finished Diary of Bridget Jones and now I see what all the fuss was about. v.g.!

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Perri wrote: "Laurel wrote: "It was The Coddling of the American Mind: How Good Intentions and Bad Ideas Are Setting Up a Generation for Failure - not the usual choice of our group (we tend more ..."

I saw Bridget Jones's Diary on the completed tab with an x on NORBERT, so I put it there on the dragon tab.

Perri | 886 comments Do we have another wraith?

message 84: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Perri wrote: "Do we have another wraith?"

I will finish my black and white cover for the second wraith tomorrow (possibly tonight), unless someone else has one not in the plans tab of the spreadsheet.

message 85: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 259 comments I realized that I had a book in my TBR with an animal paw print: Moon Called (Mercy Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs so I’m reading it now. I’ve been meaning to read it for years so I’m excited to have an excuse to get to it.

I saw that Traci has an animal print on the plan but figured it would be nice to have a extra.

message 86: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Works for me! I might put more focus on my physical book that's a green cover option then. Though really, who knows!

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Does this qualify as long hair? The Flatshare by Beth O'Leary
I was kind of thinking no and found another, but this one would work for another challenge.

Also I have 10 audiobooks sitting in overdrive right now, will do a purge on Sunday!

message 88: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11203 comments Mod
We can count it, Traci.

Perri, Guncle was so good... like laugh out loud funny but also sentimental and sweet. I really enjoyed it.

I'm going to start another book but I have lots on the agenda so I don't know if I'll get through it by tomorrow.

message 89: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Kristick | 874 comments Do you think this rug would qualify as a zebra print for the animal print prompt?

A Merry Murder at St. Bernard Cabins (Wagging Tail Mystery #3) by Cindy Bell

I don't see a print, but it's hard to tell.

message 91: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Anyone reading a prompt for the OGRE? If not, we could move One Fell Sweep from rural to OGRE and The All of It from death to rural.

I'll finish a green cover tomorrow, might get another audio in too, not sure what. I think Kathryn is reading a book for animal print.

message 92: by Traci (last edited Sep 18, 2021 10:32PM) (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments I woke up feeling under the weather and the weather is also under the weather, so it's turning into a pretty good reading weekend for me (a lot has been listening today).

message 93: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 259 comments I got less reading done today than I had hoped for but I have about 100 pages left of my book with an animal print so I’ll definitely finish it tomorrow!

message 94: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 259 comments By the way, did you like The Flatshare? I read that one earlier this year and enjoyed it.

message 95: by Perri (new)

Perri | 886 comments Don't think I'll be getting much more reading done with this lovely fall weather. So much fun to meet other book lovers and THANKS to Emily for being our fearless leader! Emily, I don't know how you manage to do so much so well, but I'm so appreciative!

message 96: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11203 comments Mod
Thanks, Perri. Definitely didn't get as much reading done this week as I was hoping, but happy to help my team a bit!

message 97: by Kathryn (last edited Sep 19, 2021 09:06AM) (new)

Kathryn | 259 comments I finished Moon Called, which completes the second dragon!

Thanks to all of you for being a wonderful team, this was fun!

message 98: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 1585 comments Hi team it’s been fun reading wit you. I have come down with. Stomach bug an all the sleep is getting in the way of reading. I finished His & Hers but not sure where it might come in handy

message 99: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments I don't think I’ll be able to finish my book today, too nice outside! But it has been fun!
