YA book where family dies but doesn't realize it

I read this book about 11 years ago and it is not the elsewhere/everlost series or in an instant.
Its about a family (father, one or two daughters and a son) who are going on vacation. They live on an island and on the way to vacation they are hit by the daughters teacher. So while they were on the way to the island and the teacher hits them when the daughter is dreaming, the daughter is somewhat conscious in said dream and sees the teacher before she died. They arrive at the ferry to get to the island and she doesn't know until some strange stuff goes on. She says she lives in a older house with big windows in the front. They have to help souls transfer across a bridge to the afterlife. I also remember something about an ice cream shop.
