Ladybug | 15 comments One of my teachers knew a children's author called Neil __ , from the UK. I can't remember the surname! I read one of his books called something to do with Snow, maybe Snow child or Snow girl? about 2014 ish. It had a navy cover with white pictures. I think it had mice in, and a suitcase and it was a fantasy for 10 to 13 year olds. Don't know the publisher.
I know he was also writing another book which had a play on word title, it was something like 'Hercules' but it was about ants or some kind of insect so it had a changed name like a pun.
I know this is very vague but any ideas are appreciated!

Lynn (lynnbar) | 126 comments I wonder if it would help if we knew what nationality Neil is or in which country you went to school?

I also wondered how many years ago you read the book as it is possible that Neil may have written more than two books by now.

I did look and found The Ant Man by Neil Davies but I think it's not a children's book and there is no pun in the title.

I also spotted Snow, Glass, Apples by Neil Gaiman but it sounds like there are no mice.

Sorry not to be more helpful.

Snow, Glass, Apples

Ladybug, I added some details to the header/ topic title. Feel free to edit it.

Rainbowheart | 28711 comments Was it a self-pubbed author, or an author whose books were put out by a traditional publisher?

Lynn (lynnbar) | 126 comments Thanks for the extra details. I keep returning to Neil Gaiman
Coraline has mice in it, I believe, not sure about snow or suitcases though, sorry. Coraline by Neil Gaiman

The Snow Child fits date wise and is a fantasy with a blue and white cover The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey however the author is not called Neil.

I did also spot this: Magpie Tales The Tale Of Magpie And Mr. Snow (Magpie Tales #2) by Neil Murton
Magpie Tales: The Tale Of Magpie And Mr. Snow

It's written by Neil Murton, the cover is navy and white and the title has the word 'snow'. It was published in 2014. I'm not sure of the age range though.

Ayshe | 4721 comments How about the The Snow Merchant? Author name Neil doesn't match but there's also Hercufleas by the same author.

Lynn (lynnbar) | 126 comments They look like brilliant suggestions Ayshe - there's even a suitcase on the cover of The Snow Merchant. :)
