I'm new to groups and such, apologies if this is done wrong.
What do I remember of this book?

The main character is named Blue. There is a love interest? I think, who's a prince. I think his name begins with a K.
I think the girl has forbidden magic, I think the boy returned from boarding school at the start of the book.
I think it seems to be a sort of, enemies to lovers type book.

I found it off good reads, but accidentally closed the tab and now I can't find it. These points are all in the blurb of the book?

Also, I now remember, the author has done a series of unrelated fairy tale retellings? I think this was one of them.
I think Blue has an evil stepmum or something

I think Blue is her nickname? I don't think her real name is Blue. It might have blue in it, and I think she goes by Blue though.

Almost sounds like Strange the Dreamer but not quite...

The main girl in the book has blue skin. She has forbidden gifts, she is the Muse of Nightmares, and the rest of her family, who are also blue, have more positive traits. Like, plant growth, and weather control.
The love interest is a nerdy librarian who was brought along on the hunt to rid the land of the blue people.
But they end up meeting in his dreams and falling in love.
Sweet story, but not sure if it's what you're looking for.

I think Laini Taylor, the author of Strange the Dreamer, also has some novellas that are like fairy tales or something with fairies or old stories, I'm not exactly sure.
She also did the Smoke and Bone series.
Not sure if that helps in any way...
