Steven Raaymakers (sraaymakers) Hey there. I'm a Kiwi (New Zealander/Hobbit) fantasy writer. Love the group.

Michael | 2 comments Greetings, fellow redditors! I'm happy to be a part of this discussion group. I'm an avid reader of science fiction and fantasy, and a writer of many genres both fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. My reddit uname is twopaths. On Twitter I'm @mgouker. I'm in Florida at UCF via Brasil via California. I post a couple times a week on my blog right here: A Man Glides Through or World of Tarn. These point to the same place now, but my idea is to separate world building and fantasy writing from general experience. It's a work-in-progress. Anyway, it's nice to meet you! Have a great weekend!

message 253: by Skie (last edited Sep 18, 2018 05:29AM) (new)

Skie (wonderskie) | 1 comments Hello! I'm u/Skie1220 at reddit. I recently decided to be more active there and on goodreads, because I feel like I'm neglecting my reading in general (my only excuse is that I just started my PhD studies), and this seemed like a good approach. Looking forward to future discussions!

Erik van Mechelen (esoterik-reviews) | 3 comments Hi redditors! I'm /u/erikvanmechelen

I’m once again the Fantasy Writer of the Day on the largest speculative fiction community in the world (you know which one that is), today celebrating the release of my 2nd novel, Sound of Stone.

Ask away! https://www.reddit.com/r/Fantasy/comm...

Cheers! -Erik

message 255: by Siggy (new)

Siggy (prosiggy) | 1 comments Hey, I'm /u/SIG96 and I mostly lurk reddit.

I'm mainly looking to be more active on book clubs, and get more into discussions with people as I want to hopefully be an author and improve my understanding of the fantasy genre.

message 256: by Let's Geek (new)

Let's Geek | 1 comments Hi Siggy!

Yeah I am pretty much the same - except I ONLY lurk ... I know I know. geek_moe is shy what can I do

message 257: by Joecrash411 (new)

Joecrash411 (goodreadscomJoecrash) | 6 comments Fantasy is pretty much the only genre I read, and I have trouble finding new good books, I only have a hazy idea of what Reddit is, is there a large group of fantasy readers there?

message 258: by David H. (new)

David H. (bochordonline) | 517 comments Mod
Hi Joe, Reddit.com is a site where people can post links and comment on them, and there are sections of it called "subreddits" like r/Fantasy, which can be reached at www.reddit.com/r/fantasy

These days we primarily use the Goodreads group to connect with each other on here as well as link to our various book clubs we have going on.

message 259: by Keisha (new)

Keisha I don’t have a reddit account, so most of the discussions happen on reddit or on goodreads?

message 260: by David H. (new)

David H. (bochordonline) | 517 comments Mod
The discussion all takes place on Reddit.

message 261: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin | 1 comments Hi, u/Aim_2_misbehave. Not super active at r/fantasy, but I thought I'd join up here because I'm always looking for good fantasy recs. I look forward to seeing what you all are reading!

message 262: by Daniel (last edited Nov 25, 2018 09:32PM) (new)

Daniel Palacios | 1 comments Hi, everybody!

I'm Daniel, a new member of /r/Fantasy and goodreads. I'm a new fantasy reader and I think that this will be the percet place to expand this new hobby.

I'm a non-native English speaker, maybe I can't read as fast as all you members, but I try and enjoy the process.

Regards!

Edit: I'm "danpalval" on reddit

message 263: by Leticia (new)

Leticia (leticiatoraci) | 3 comments Hi, I'm u/LeticiaToraci and I'm not very active on Reddit, but trying to change that.

message 264: by Amelia (new)

Amelia Hi guys, I'm u/Chrysanthe17 and I am relatively new to both reddit and /r/Fantasy. I love discussing fantasy books and am planning to join the Discussion of Foundryside at the end of the month!

message 265: by Danielle (new)

Danielle T (daumari) | 1 comments Hello! u/sepiolida here (I primarily lurk, but am mildly active in r/asianamerican and r/cfb), longtime goodreads user who only belatedly realized that OF COURSE r/fantasy has a group.

In what's possibly a very misguided reading goal for 2019, I've decided to try and read at least one online book club selection within the month that it's assigned- I got 1/12 for Books and Boba last year, so I figure I can do better, though my to-read pile is very long... I also figure actually using the bingo board will help widen my reads!

message 266: by Farrell (new)

Farrell Keeling (farrellkeeling) | 1 comments I'm u/farrellkeeling. I've started to hang out in the r/fantasy group a bit more often now, as I'd like to be more involved in the general writing community.

I'll upvote and read as much as I can and hopefully dash a few comments here and there ;)

Feel absolutely free to add me as a friend on here, I'm always curious to see what everyone's reading/enjoying!

message 267: by Axel (last edited Jan 17, 2019 12:22PM) (new)

Axel | 1 comments I'm u/axeran. Even though i've read quite a bit of fantasy over the years, I've read very little the last few years due to a combination of reasons.

I am soon moving to my own apartment. And then I expect to read a lot more than I currently do. I also join Goodreads and I will gradually add all the books I've read over the years to my page.

Fell free to add me. Just be aware that I might be a bit slow on this site.

message 268: by Tim (new)

Tim (undeadwookiee) | 1 comments I'm u/NeoBahamutX. I have always been a fan of the fantasy genre mainly in other media such as movies and the like.

I did read some novels while in college in the late 90's but since leaving college and getting married and the like I had stopped reading for the better part of the next decade and a half.

I finally started reading again last year after we had a music service issue at work were we basically had none. Thus I turned to audible and listening to audio books. After which I also started reading physical books in the evening.

So after reading maybe a handful of books in the last 18 years, I read nearly 80 last year alone, and already 7 more this year.

Bobby | 1 comments I'm u/bobd785. I've been enjoying r/Fantasy a lot lately, so I thought I would join here too. I've been reading fantasy since I was a kid, so it's always good to meet some fellow fantasy lovers. Feel free to add me as a friend.

message 271: by Paula (last edited Feb 04, 2019 11:48AM) (new)

Paula (verbosereader) | 3 comments Hi, I am /u/chucks_mom on Reddit. I am new to the /r/Fantasy board and I'm also new to the genre. I lurk mostly on the board but I post on other boards like /r/52books and /r/books. I'm hoping to incorporate more fantasy into my reading this year hopefully I find lots of new books and authors that I've never heard of before.

message 272: by W. (last edited Feb 16, 2019 08:56AM) (new)

W. Hunt | 1 comments Hey all, I'm u/wlancehunt on Reddit. I'm more active there than here, mostly because I think I've not found the right group, and am hoping this will change that circumstance. Published a standalone Coming of age/literary novel about being in a rock'n'roll band—showing the realities of a tough business A Perfect Blindness. Now, I'm getting back to the roots of why I wanted to write in the first place—fantasy. Working on a heroic/epic series now. Tentatively titled The Book of Visions.

message 273: by William (new)

William Breen (peregrination) | 1 comments Hello everyone! I'm u/Peregrination. I'm semi active in the various writing subreddits, especially when it comes to fantasy (and some sci-fi). I'm also an aspiring author, but more to come on that when I've got my book finished. Just wanted to stop by and say hello!

message 274: by Samara (new)

Samara | 1 comments Hello I’m /u/samaranator on reddit. Saw that you were doing Lireal for the book of the month and wanted to be involved. The Abhorsen trilogy has been one of my favorite book series since I first read Sabriel in middle school.

message 275: by Brian Morris (new)

Brian Morris | 1 comments Hi everyone! I’m new to goodreads and r/fantasy! Can’t wait to read the book for March! I read Touch last month and really enjoyed it. Reddit name is spootnik71

message 276: by Rama (new)

Rama Nugraha (ramanugraha) | 1 comments Hi everyone! I'm u/ialive on reddit. I wrote fantasy series and it's called The Three Realms. It's about a type of mankind that can breathe underwater. If you curious with it, you can get it for free here: ramanugraha.com/downloadme/

Thanks! See you around, guys! :)

message 277: by Chip (new)

Chip (chipfrick) | 1 comments Hi Im /u/ChipFrickVi and I have lurked in r/Fantasy for a while, but I don't really post or comment anything. I'm new to the good reads group and hope to get in on the discussions, and just start reading more in general.

message 278: by Zachary (new)

Zachary (zachary_pagevandal) | 2 comments Hi everyone--I'm Zach. My reddit user is u/pagevandal. I joined this group mainly to see what the current reads are for the bingo, but I also love book communities so I'm excited to see where it all goes :)

message 279: by Michael (new)

Michael | 1 comments Hello, I am /u/destituteteholbeddic and I routinely lurk /r/fantasy and occasionally post things.

I'm I a big fan of magic and the implications of the world in my fantasy. Or an idea impact on the world in Science Fiction.

message 280: by Vershneim (new)

Vershneim I'm /u/Vershneim (what a surprise!) I used to post a bit more under another username, but not much even then. I lurk a bit. I'm thinking about trying to start posting reviews of things I read now (just did my first on Goodreads; left it off of the reddit, 'cause it seems like everyone's reviewed it there)

message 281: by J. (new)

J. Flowers-Olnowich | 1 comments I'm /u/Aethelius, mostly a lurker but Fantasy is my favorite genre. I'm not very active in discussions and such, but I love reading though them and will occasionally post something.

I really just made an account on Goodreads so I can track my just-published book, but then I found out that the r/Fantasy reddit has this group.

Feel free to add me as a friend!

message 282: by Kazima (new)

Kazima Hi, I'm /u/zozomoony and I'm just a lurker (mostly, trying to break out of my shell a bit (like even writing this is a huge effort)).. I am also a bookseller for a chain of stores that sell comic books and SFFH books (talking about and recommending books is so much easier in person!). I don't post a lot of reviews on goodreads and most of them are fairly casual/personal, but if people want to add me as a friend or follow me, then that is cool :) The last couple of years, I've had (fairly) ambitious goodreads reading challenge goals, and now thought I would hang a bit more with the overlapping reddit/gr crew and try to do the bingo (am also considering doing the regular bingo, but then also fill out a seperate one with all the same criteria, but with all graphic novels). See you guys around!

message 283: by Magnus Iskander (new)

Magnus Iskander Reim (magnusiskanderreim) | 5 comments Hi ! I'm u/IskanderReim. I'm French so excuse any language mistakes. I love fantasy and sci-fi and have a bad habit of buying too much books and working too much to read as many as I'd want to.
I mostly lurk so far but also like to talk to people liking these genres as much as I do.
Hit me up for any buddy reads, I love them ! (Currently reading Black Leopard, Red Wolf)

Raymond Elmo (raymondstelmo) | 11 comments "Hi, I'm /u/zozomoony".

I know that icon. Moomins!
I think that's Little My. Might be her sister.
Someone should do a review of Tove Jansson on r/fantasy.

message 285: by Jesse (new)

Jesse Stringer | 1 comments Hi everyone, I'm u/Drfunk52. New to the community, but a lifelong fantasy and science fiction reader. I first became interested in fantasy as a kid reading Piers Anthony's Xanth novels as well as the Dragonlance series, but soon branched off.

IRL I'm a physician and have experienced a pretty profound dark period in which I didn't read much beyond textbooks during my training, but after finishing training and having discovered the ease of finishing books through a combo of my Kindle and Audible sub I am hoping to get back into the habit. Here to participate in the monthly book clubs as well as get caught up on series missed out on. Looking forward to discussing with all of you!

message 286: by Daniel (new)

Daniel Sepúlveda Hello Everyone!
My name is Daniel and my Reddit user is dsepulveda416.
I recently joined Reddit and I couldn't miss the Fantasy thread.
I mostly read Fantasy and Thrillers, and I'm willing to learn more about this genre and meet other fantasy fans here!

message 287: by Kaahr (new)

Kaahr | 1 comments Hi everyone! I'm u/kaahr. I've been reading fantasy and SF for as long as I can remember and I'm super happy to find a community that is this passionate about my favorite genres. It's my first year doing bingo, I'm trying to do hard mode on all squares. It's a lot of fun so far!

I'm from France, currently living in Paris, and I'm happy to see there are some other baguettes here! Feel free to hit me up if you want to talk about the local author square for bingo, I've been doing some research 😁

message 288: by A.M. (new)

A.M. Macdonald (dybsy) Heya, I'm /r/dybsy! I just want to be part of the community.

message 289: by Jim (new)

Jim (rionenglish) | 1 comments Hi there! I'm user u/JimRJapan and I'm kind of active, I guess, on that account. I had another that was WAAAY more active but I got locked out or something.

I'm a fantasy reader going way back, and in addition read SF, westerns, historical fiction, and so on.

I live in Japan, and am a freelance Japanese to English translator as well. See you around!

message 290: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi, I'm u/WaffleDynamics. I just joined goodreads so I could follow along with the Warrior's Apprentice book discussion, and also to see what interesting books others are reading.

message 291: by Eric (new)

Eric McLaughlin | 1 comments Hello,
My reddit user name is u/mutantspicy I've been lurking on fantasy sub for a couple years but the last few months starting commenting and posting here and there. The fantasy sub is one of the best. I enjoy fantasy, sci fi, speculative fiction, humor, horror, music and animals. Neil Gaiman and Tim Powers are my favorite style of author, but enjoy the classics like Tolkein, Leguin, etc. Lately the newish authors Katherine Arden and T. Kingfisher have turned me on. Feel free to hit me up on GR or reddit. Currently doing the 52 book challenge, which I am almost there already and will attempt to do the fantasy bingo challenge as well. TTFN

message 295: by Elisa (new)

Elisa (elisathebibliovore) | 1 comments Hi all! I should have commented when I joined, but I forgot...I'm u/librarylackey over on Reddit. I mostly use r/fantasy as a way to scratch my "oh my god you have to read this" itch so I don't drive my friends and family crazy, and to add to my TBR pile (which keeps getting bigger). Gonna try to be more involved over here as well!

message 296: by Simone (new)

Simone (simoontje) | 1 comments I'm Simone, u/moontjee, from the Netherlands.
I've been in love with fantasy all my life. So I'm happy to talk to you guys about it!!

message 297: by Unplugged (new)

Unplugged | 1 comments Trying to be more involved! I'm u/unplugtheminus80
I'm hoping to get more recs from this group, and review more as the year goes on. I used to use GR strictly for book tracking, but I'm changing my philosophy and hoping to be more than just a wall flower.

Serial Bibliophile (serial-bibliophile) Name is Claudia; r/Fantasy lurker and lover of books. Favorite genres are Sci-fi and Fantasy but I read everything.

message 299: by Wooster (new)

Wooster (forger_of_souls) | 1 comments Hola, long time lurker of r/fantasy. My reddit is u/comme_ci_comme_ca_1. The sub has given me innumerable recommendations, enough to last me a lifetime. I hope to get involved in the monthly book discussions.

message 300: by Chris (new)

Chris | 2 comments Hi, been on goodreads for some time, not sure I've ever contributed here before. Sci-fi and fantasy are mainly what I read - currently reading Jack Vance's Dying Earth, but I read other stuff, and am gearing up for Anna Karenina! I've just written my first (fantasy) novel - still proofreading - and my reddit is u/ValmarTrepalium!
