This sounds like a great read. It reminds me of Octavia Butler's Parable of the Sower -- at least in description. ^_^ I'm curious to know how you like it!

I love the concept of Ikigai! Although that's the conflict I am having currently. My ikigai is To Love and under that comes caring, comforting, healing, etc. Being in healthcare is where I belong and because of work trauma, I feel as though I no longer can do it and I'm lost to myself and my purpose.

That quickly became a downer of a conversation when I really started off being excited for you! You will enjoy that book!!

Carla Kessler | 10 comments Hello reading world. I am a debut author expecting to self-publish the first book of my trilogy in April and am ready to send out ARCs. It's a middle grade magical realism story with elements of ecology, activism, and nature. The protagonist is an introvert. I am looking for honest reviews that do not need to be lengthy. Learn more about my book at my website at http://www.carlakesslerauthor.com My contact information is on my website. Thank you in advance!

Kristel | 4 comments I started A Court of Mist and Fury. I chose to read it in English, to aid in improving my language skills and learn some new words. The first book captured my interest so much I am looking forward to this second one in the series.

But I am eyeing a new book that was just released this week, Just a Monster, I think it is by Vanessa Len.

I'm reading "Sisis Weg", it's about the young Empress Elisabeth from Austria-Hungary. It's interesting but sometimes it's tiring to read it.
In addition, I'm reading "Jo" with my french class.

I just finished reading The Nature of Witches by Rachel Griffin. WONDERFUL! I took the message to heart about knowing and accepting who you are and loving yourself because of it. Besides the powerful message, the story itself was great.

Great! I can provide a PDF ARC now. It may have a few typos yet, as it's getting its last proofreading right now, but it's basically ready. Click on this link to request a PDF when you are ready: https://carlakesslerauthor.com/reques...

I expect to publish April 19th and am hoping to collect some reviews before then. Thanks so much for your interest!!

Started The Shadow Land by Elizabeth Kostova. I'm trying to finish it before it's due back at the library. I am also listening to The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. I overbooked (hahaha, I'm keeping that pun) myself and I have several books going at once.

Candy | 1 comments Just finished reading Three Dark Crowns series by Kendare BlakeI may purchase and reread later. I really liked it, and of course I love YA, so it was really good. Now I am on a search for another to start. So far all the ones I want to read are already checked out so I have to wait.

On my way to the library to pick this book up, I think. I can't remember now which one is ready but it's one of the two for our monthly book.

I borrowed this series from my sister and kept them aside to read while staying with my parents, but my daughter saw them and thinking they were mine, she packed them. Now they are in Missouri and I'm stuck in Maryland. I hear amazing reviews about this book.

I made poor life choices last night. I have been waiting since last October for The Book of Cold Cases by Simone St. James. It was just released yesterday. I woke up, went to the bookstore, and came home a very excited woman. Then I got the idea to return to my youth- I read all day and stayed up all night. FANTASTIC BOOK, however- my youth was not with me. I suffered today, but FANTASTIC BOOK!

/Hi Jennifer! I'm going to go against all the rave reviews and say that it was...okay.

I wasn't emotionally invested in any of the characters, they all felt a bit two dimensional and I didn't feel any connection in the relationships. So this meant the more "emotional" parts of the book were lost on me.

I also found the reveal at the end to be extremely underwhelming.

I did find it easy to read and it was still somewhat enjoyable....there was just no depth.

Sorry I know that's going to be controversial because this book seems to get A LOT of hype.

I feel the same way about some books. I can't understand all the hype *cough-Stephan King

Thanks for the honest opinion. I think I'll still read this one but maybe a little further along my TBR list.

The Kite Runner. I am at the part where bullies are in their glory and it's devastating to me. I had to put the book down for a moment.

I know this is so bad of me, being 44, but I can't help loving that I am still a daddy's girl.

Dad- I'm going to the grocery store. Do you need anything?
Me- The Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn
Dad- What isle?
Me- Fiction *puppy eyes and charming smile
Dad- Ok, there's a bookstore nearby.

Yayyy, now I can get out of line at the library and let the other 116 fight over the only 9 copies Howard County has.

Try as I may to read one book at a time, I always end up gathering more books around me to read all at once. Oh well, I guess I should accept that this is how I do it, lol!
