Erin | 19 comments I read this approximately between 1996 and 1998. It was a (probably hardcover) children's picture book. It was not long. It belonged to a classroom library, so I have no clue how old it was at the time.

The pictures were in full color. They showed birds that were merged with inanimate objects, and it presented them like they were perfectly happy and natural like that. There was text, but the writing was brief. I'm thinking about the picture:text ratio was similar to Dr. Seuss. I have checked Dr. Seuss's work, and I do not believe this is one of them. I also don't remember any rhyming in the text. I think it was just descriptions of the birds and their lives. I don't think there was an actual story.

I have tried searching for this several times, but I only find more recent books or books about real birds.

Erin | 19 comments That’s it! I was able to find some pictures of the pages, and I definitely recognize the pencilkeet parrot. Thank you so much! I never would have remembered a name like The Ice-Cream Cone Coot and Other Rare Birds.
