It was a spooky kind of book for older kids/young teens. The main character was hired to cut the grass in a graveyard. There was some kind of bad blood between the groundskeeper and maybe his brother? There was a weird devil stick figure drawn on headstones and it ended with a dust devil wiping out the symbol. I read it in the early 90s.

I remember one scene where the groundskeeper is pondering whether the fog would "burn off."
