Jennie | 5 comments Hello, I hope someone can help with this. I read a book from my elementary school library in the late 70’s (definitely before 1981) about twin girls who always wore either blue or pink. I think one of them might have been called Erica but I can’t be sure. One of them was in very fragile health and eventually died. For some reason the sharpest details for me were a prominent blue vein that was visible on one sister’s face, and floral wallpaper in the sick girl’s bedroom. It was traumatic for me but I can’t for the life of me remember more than that. I apologize for not being able to narrow down the year more than “sometime after 1977 but before 1981;” my dad was in the Army and I was in 4 different schools in that time frame.

Thank you for your time!

RabbitMilitia | 338 comments Hi Jennie! A lot of the plot points probably don't match. The first book that came to mind was Waiting for Johnny Miracle by Alice Bach, but the twins in that one are named Theo and Becky. I wasn't quite sure if your book is a novel or a picture book. This one is a novel and the twins are 17- so nowhere near elementary school age. So- very likely NOT your book, but I thought I would mention it just in case!

Mai | 1280 comments This one came up searching WorldCat but I can't find any information online other than the very short synopsis "Identical thirteen-year-old twin sisters try to cope with strict regulations at the private school they attend and with the crippling disease which has stricken one of them."

The book is called Laura's Gift by Dee Jacobs (it was originally published in 1979).

Jennie | 5 comments Hmmm, thank you both. Johnny Miracle isn’t likely but Laura’s Gift is worth checking, though even 13 seems too old. I was a kid and 13 would have seemed downright grownup. I’ll post an update if I can get my hands on a copy.

Thank you for posting!
