But so many books are inspired directly by Christie (like The Guest List, which won GR Choice this year). So maybe you could finagle it a bit.

I actually might try to sketch out a list and see how possible it really is. :)

Alicia | 1490 comments Ooh I like the way you think! I was already thinking Miss Marple for female detective. 4.50 from Paddington for time. Three Little Pigs and Sad Cypress (flora/fauna). Continents are easy with Europe, Asia and Africa. 10 Little Indians for nationality.

I’ll have more time later this week and I’ll see what I can come up with too, then we can share!

Sounds good!

The Chosen and the Beautiful - A parallel retelling of the Great Gatsy - the Asian MC attends Gatsby's parties, and there is magic in this world.

Oh thanks, I didn't know there was a new one! One more for the Pile!

The Chosen and the Beautiful was my favorite book of June! It was amazing!

Shannon Ralph | 188 comments My least favorite at non-fiction by a BIPOC author and true crime. I am just a diehard fiction reader and seldom enjoy non-fiction. But I will find something if those make the list.

I am really drawn to a book set in a small town or rural area (some of my favorite reads ever have been set in small towns) and a book about independence (I would think any coming-of-age story would fit this).

I am intrigued by a book related to Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock, but have no idea what I would read for that one!

The rest I am just sort of lukewarm about.

I like - true crime, spin off, author would like to meet and US state in title

not keen on rural area, non fiction (struggling with the genre at the moment), healthcare professional (I was one but find they can be very hit and miss)

ha ha - I like this your up votes mirror my down votes

Good to know. The cover is gorgeous and now I'm seeing it everywhere. It's also tagged alt-history and 1920's, and it would fit an Asian author/character prompt.

The parallel concept is intriguing, but it's hard to find them among other types of retellings. If this prompt doesn't get in, I hope it gets resubmitted in one form or another.
