Penny Lime | 6 comments I read this book around 2019. It is a young teenage reading level book and is probably from what I remember around 220 pages. The cover is teal-ish with orange.

(Spoilers ahead)

In the beginning, four teenagers (two girls and two boys I think) are selected by a male "scientist" for either research or an experiment. They are taken to a parking lot in Florida and are picked up by the man (I think) and his assistant. They leave their parents and are taken to the facility in a boat across a marsh/swamp with alligators. I think that there was a huge hangar with machines. While they are there, one of the girls realize that something malicious is happening, and tell the others and they devise a plan to escape. One of the boys are really hesitant to leave because he does not believe her. He may have betrayed their plans to the scientist, but I could be wrong. They try to escape by the boat, but I'm half certain that they are caught the first time. The second time(?) it works, and I remember a scene where they are in the marsh, and the assistant guy is in another boat chasing them. They hide on a tiny island, and the assistant is attacked by an alligator. They also make it to a highway or road, and they have to survive in the woods. While in the woods, they narrowly avoid a snake, and they are eaten alive by mosquitos. They are eventually found and all is well. I think they end up in the news or something.

Thank you for your help! :)
