SOLVED. YA SciFi book where the globe's population is stuffed into the top 1/3 of the globe and there has been a birth ban for 30 years so teens have to do adult tasks. [s]

spoilers ahead. I think I read this book roughly 5-10 years ago. Because of a birth ban teens who are no older then 13 have to join the military as fighter pilots. I think the main character had a sister who was kidnapped a little while before the start of the book. I don't know if this is important but I think it is a 2 book series with the first one having a generic name of "the noise" or something similar. I don't know what genre it was. That is all I can remember for now and I will update as a remember more.

Hello, unrelated to this specific topic but how do I post a book search? What do I put in the “book this topic is about” field. It won’t let me post without it

Richard, are you looking at the "Edit Topic" page that appears when you click the "edit" link after the header? If yes, we use the "This topic is about" field to enter the solution (book title) to a book request.

There seems to be a glitch if Goodreads forces you to fill in this field when creating a book request. Normally, you just leave it blank until your request is solved.
