Maddie | 6 comments Reading level at about 5th to 7th grade, scary, read about 2005 the cover has a house in the upper to middle left and a pick it sign in bottom right with name of book on it. Colors are red black green. There’s a boy he finds a comic book he runs though a forest there’s a swamp monster (maybe a rat man) it’s probably about 250 pages???

Sorry I wish I could remember more

Brooke | 44 comments Hello, just to clarify, is the book an actual comic book with a kid that finds a comic book,

Or a novel about a kid that finds a comic book?

Hopefully this can be solved for you!

Maddie | 6 comments It is a chapter book and the boy finds a comic book. I sure hope you can help me find it too!

Sorry about the confusion.

Brooke | 44 comments Is it How to Disappear Completely and Never Be Found ?

The main character in this is a little girl but everything else matches your description! This is part of the summary:
"Convinced that her father's death, her mother's silence, and the mansion are somehow related, Margaret returns to the spooky old house alone, determined to make sense of three clues: a swimming medal, a key, and a strange, handwritten comic book about a boy who turned into a rat. With the help of Boyd, the lonely, comic-book-obsessed boy next door, she discovers that truth can be stranger than fiction -- depending upon who's telling the story."

Maddie | 6 comments Me too! Thank you so much again! I have never met someone else who even knew that book existed, and my mom is a librarian. A children’s librarian at that! So you could probably imagine my excitement. Hahaha
