YA Romance novel about two boys communicating with each other using the same phone in the same house, but are in different eras.

I am nearly convinced that I made this book plot up in my head, but I'm holding out for the off-chance that it exists. The book is about two teenage(?) boys who live in the exact same household and use the exact same phone to communicate with each other, although live in entirely different time periods.

I admittedly don't know for sure if they do end up falling in love, but I do have a vague memory of seeing this recommended on an "LGBT+ Books to Read" on TikTok. I have never read this book before, but I would really like to. The only other thing I know is that SPOILER the phone cord gets severed towards the middle/end of the book.

I would really, really appreciate any help. I've been desperately trying to find this book for weeks.

Okay so this is definitely not a book/ not what you described exactly, but this plot sounds vaguely similar to the plot of the Korean Drama (TV show) called Signal:

"While investigating a case, a cold case profiler discovers a walkie-talkie from the year 1989. He deduces that the walkie-talkie transcends time and allows him to communicate with a detective from 1989 for a short period of time. Together, they use their knowledge to stop heinous crimes from ever occurring."

Though different from what you were looking for, it's a very interesting show. You can watch it on Rakuten Viki and a handful of other sites. I highly recommend it if you like that kind of "time transcending plot" idea :)
