Jelly Puppy | 16 comments SPOILERS AHEAD

The teen boy and girl both attended the same school. The boy was athletic with eyes (either hazel or green?) with gold flecks in them. During the book it's revealed that his father was originally from the magical world but went to the normal world. The gold in the boy's eyes is a clue that he's connected to the magic world. At some point (the end?), the boy stays in the magic world while the girl returns to the normal world. There is very little romance as far as I remember.

I vaguely remember a training portion in the book. The boy has magic and the girl learns how to use a conventional weapon (I think it was a sword? Or bow and arrow?) There is some kind of fae city.

I read the book series in middle school, so that would've been in the mid-late 2000s. The final book was released around that time. The cover of one of the books had a sword with an inlaid gem. I think another book had a horse/unicorn/pegasus, but I'm not sure. None of the books had a person on the cover. I remember thinking the cover looked very cool, and that was why I chose it initially. There are 3-4 books in the series. I got all of them in a physical bookstore in the United States. The publication language is English.

It's not Inkspell or Septimus Heap. However, the vibe of the magic world in this book is similar to the vibe of the magic worlds in those two. The normal world is modern.

Thanks in advance! I've been trying to find this book forever, but I guess it wasn't super popular because I haven't found anything yet.

Jelly, how are they transported to the magic/fantasy world? Where are they when this happens?

How is the magic world different from the real world? Are there fantasy creatures (e.g., dragons, elves, talking animals)?

I added some details to the header/ topic title. Feel free to edit it.

Michele | 2488 comments Could it be the Narnia books? The Silver Chair has 2 teens from same school, sword. The Magicians Nephew has the flying horse.

Kaia McGhee | 3 comments Maybe the Warrior Heir? I don’t remember a different world, more like a hidden society. But the cover and school thing matches

Thank you!! I honestly cannot remember most of those details and don't want to provide conflicting information in case I might be remembering a different book. ;;

I can say there were magical creatures (cannot recall if there were talking animals, though) and also just magic in general? I don't know how else to describe it ;;

Sadly not the Narnia books. The world that the two main characters come from was basically modern-day. But thanks for trying!

Unfortunately not that one, either. Thanks for commenting, though!

Unfortunately, it's not on there, but thanks for trying!

I'm not super surprised that this series is pretty obscure, but I'm still a little surprised at the level of obscurity. I remember it was a good series of books...

Sadly it's not that... Thanks for trying!

Tab (tabbrown) | 5084 comments Did each book in the series focus on the same boy and girl?
Remember anything about the kids' family, classmates, friends, pets, etc?

The most significant part I remember from the book is that the boy's father is from the magic world. The boy was popular and into sports, too.

Kathy Ziegler | 11 comments Is it the Magic Tree House book series?

Jelly Puppy | 16 comments Kathy wrote: "Is it the Magic Tree House book series?"

Sadly no. I'd say the target audience is a bit older (teen vs child). But you mentioning that series really takes me back! haha

Thanks so much for trying

SBC (essbeecee) | 1594 comments There are two sequels to Warriors of Alavna which have covers like you've described, not sure if you've seen those? Warriors of Camlann and Warriors of Ethandun.

SBC (essbeecee) | 1594 comments Also, the Llandor trilogy by Louise Lawrence has a similar plot line. The third book The Shadow of Mordican has a unicorn on the cover.

Jelly Puppy | 16 comments Thanks for your suggestions, guys. Unfortunately, none of those are the book(s) I'm looking for.

Capn | 3506 comments Perhaps you might spot the covers?
Unicorn/Pegasus: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...
YA weapons: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/8...

(Can you describe them in any more detail? Pastels, or jewel tones? Textures? Light? Dark? Bordered? Gold or silver foil details? Small image of unicorn/pegasus or sword, or zoomed in? Whole sword or just the hilt?)

I remember a somewhat recent (about 2-3 months ago) thread with a similar cover, but for my life can't find it.

David Añez | 418 comments Exactly that one, thanks. The description of the cover reminds me of the solution of that thread.
