I've just started reading this late last night. I'm on chapter five, it's okay. The plot feels a bit predictable so I'm hoping for a plot twist to occur later one. I really wanna read more from Raisa's POV too ^^ but both the characters are equally interesting at this point.

Finished Demon King last night!!

(hide spoiler)] Otherwise it was okay, started really picking up towards the end and it has a great set up for the second one! (hide spoiler)]

I'm up to page 142, chapter 8 (view spoiler)[ Surprisingly, I like Raisa and Han. Raisa can be a little annoying. She's clearly in love with Amon, but is with Micah. She doesn't know she's in love with him, but she did kiss him! Even if her and Micah don't have a real relationship, that's not okay. Even if Micah is a bit of a tosser, setting that fire and lying about it. A murder plot perhaps? But who would he want to kill? I wish Han could become part of the clan. I'm not quite sure if he has to be born into that or if he can join once he's old enough. Or if he could marry Bird and join. I really like Bird, she's brave. It must be scary to be one of the only female warriors. I really hope she can, and can do it well (hide spoiler)]

Up to page 231, chapter 13 (view spoiler)[ Thats a great idea for raising money! She really doesn't want to get married, so why not give away her gifts? Although, she should really talk to Micah, I don't trust him at all. I love the way Han looks after his little sister. There's nothing cuter than an overprotective big brother. This sounds really patronising, but I love reading about the poor. That school is so great. Just little things like being really early so the apprentices can go to work is clever. And it's amazing how many people volunteer for those sorts of things - there's no way Jensen is being paid, but he cares too much about his students to care. I'm really enjoying this book, but I'm a little lost with the world. I want a little more explanation, instead of just names being thrown at me... (hide spoiler)]

Up to page 340, chapter 19. How are the rest of you going? (view spoiler)[ I really like the relationship with Han and Raisa. Even though by the end they'll fall in love, and that'll annoy me, their friendship was cool. There were sparks. I like hearing about Cuffs gang life, it's really interesting. I want to know how he got in, and out for that matter. I hope he doesn't join the army, he's smarter than that. Not that soldiers are dumb, but he'd die pretty fast. I love Naming days I've decided. I'm excited for Bird's, just to see how different it is to Micah and Fiona's. I could go on about how I hate Micah, but I won't :P (hide spoiler)]

This ones really good so far. I'm reading it as well as listening to it on Audiobook. The readers rather slow, so I'm forcing myself to be patient 13 hrs and 20 mins to go. I like how it started off with Mac Gillen, and I wished he played a larger, more evil role, In the novel. I've liked Han's POV far more than Raisa's so far. At least for the moment all I feel there is on her part is her and the cadets getting ambushed by some force or another. I feel like any possible romance between Han and Bird is over, but I really wanna see how they'd act if they were to ever see each other again. Hmm... Oh, Raisa and her crew just arrived at Oden's Ford. I really want to see how that plays out when they possibly run into Micah, or the Gray Wolves find out her true identity. I also am enjoying the princess voice and how she refuses to remain oblivious to everything for much longer. Definitely off to a better start than the first one, can't wait to read more! On pg 374, chapter twenty-three of The Exiled Queen (view spoiler)[ the story is really beginning to pick up now that everyone's settling into Oden's ford. The whole dream world seems to be sketchy. And since Han has already guessed this "Crow" person is Gryphon or Abelade, I'll have to asume it's someone entirely different, since I've learned in most cases his assumptions are wrong. My guess is Fiona, especially with her odd behavior. Though I do suppose it wouldn't make sense, though, considering she was in the class the first time it happened. Hoping to find out soon though!! Hmm... As for Amon and Raisa, the whole romance seemed overrated. I liked that Cinda Chima made it so that the princess touch makes him feel sick, it just lessens the awkwardness of the two ever really being in love. For the two main characters any romance just reads like its forced and just leads to me rolling my eyes. But hopefully that'll change. To be honest I hope there's never going to be an official romance in the novel, but it's pointless to hope so. Raisa and Han will likely follow in Hanalea and Waterlow's footsteps, but hopefully with less catastrophic endings. Also unsure who to really trust here. Everyone seems unreliable, but I guess we'll see where things end up going. (hide spoiler)]

Finished the Demon King!! (view spoiler)[ Im a little disappointed with the ending. Han is a wizard, and that's cool. But it was sort of thrown at us with no warning, almost just to make an interesting sequel. Fire Dancer a wizard, okay, I can deal with that. But Han? Really? And the marriage was out of nowhere too. I can see how setting up Micah and Raisa had happened, but not a wedding on the same day as her naming ceremony. Surely the Queen is strong enough to say no. Averill would have given her amulets to ward off magic. And she's not stupid, she would take them. I was really enjoying the book until that forces ending. I'll carry on reading the series with you guys, but they have to get better! (hide spoiler)]

Glad you finished! (view spoiler)[ And I know what you mean, I feel like this book was just a slow-paced set up for the rest of the series. We see so little of the Queen that it's hard to get a good judge on her character though, though I must admit the wedding was something I never so coming. Ugh the ending with Han though was... Predictable. While reading I was taking notes and making predictions and on pg 93 I wrote: Is Han a descendant of the Waterlow demon king? And then it happened right at the very end so it was like reading an entire four hundred more pages just to get that silly made up excuse of an answer. As for The Exiled Queen I think it's a bit better, I'm not sure about my feelings, but I'm starting to really like the audiobook part, so I guess that could mess up my initial thoughts, but it's certainly better than Demon King, though the romance makes me want to punch myself in the face. And will Micah and his fellow wizards be exploited for powers by Arden, or have they too escaped? This was certainly a better installment then the first one. (hide spoiler)]

I hope the Exiled Queen is better! I don't think I can deal with another book like this, with dragged out and unexplained bad plot lines. I can already see how the romance (romances?) is going to go. Up to page 122 of the Exiled Queen, chapter 6 (view spoiler)[ Raisa's chapters are a lot more interesting than Han's. I'm just not interested in Han and Dancer. But I'm genuinely interested in why Amon is being so weird around Raisa. I mean, obviously he's in love with her, but then wouldn't he be more protective instead of weird? Teaching her how to fight would help her, but he's acting like he's scared of it. Plus Raisa is so brave and cool. Usually I hate main characters, but I'm starting to really like her (hide spoiler)]

I'm up to page 200, chapter 11 (view spoiler)[ Raisa is still more interesting. But now that Han's at the school, they might go back to equal. I love how Cat refuses to let anyone be even slightly unfair to her. She's so cool! I'm glad she's hanging around. I wish Amon would admit his feelings for Raisa. The sexual tension between those two is just painful. I'm sure she'll get together with Han in the end, but Amon is there in the meantime. I hope she does talk to her mother like she wants to. Now that they've left court, it seems to be completely focused on other things. I want to know how her mother is, and if Micah and his family are still plotting (hide spoiler)]

Up to page 338, chapter 20 (view spoiler)[ This plot is painfully familiar. It's exactly like Harry Potter! Yes, there are some differences, but not enough for me to be not mad. I'm starting to find Han more interesting than Raisa now. Maybe because he's Harry, but mostly because Raisa just talks about missing Amon. I like the rivalry between Han and Micah, it's interesting. Han and Raisa's classes are really interesting. Especially with high fantasy like this, where I don't know all their history and things (hide spoiler)]

Finally read Chapter 1 of The Demon King (view spoiler)[So I'm already curious about how Fire Dancer knows so much about the wizards and how/why he has a Vale name. Chapter 3, The Demon King (view spoiler)[I really love how it seems like all of society is matriarchal. Finally we get to see women in power rather than men! And it doesn't seem like it's challenged so much like it would be if it were taking place in our world. I also for some reason see the characters as either some form or Asian or Native American, I guess from the clan names given to the children or even just certain words like the Naeming. I'm still unclear of that though, but in my mind, that's what I see. I'm loving Raisa so far, and I'm curious as to why Willo was worried about the three charmcasters finding out what Han's real name was. (hide spoiler)]

I'm genuinely concerned for Raisa, and I want to know what Han's planning on doing. Escaping, looking for Raisa, joining the Demonai? I gave this one 4 stars, I liked it a lot better than the first one (hide spoiler)]
