YA (teens). Vaguely what you would read as a 12-14 yr old. Set in modern Australia.
Book cover image was blue, potentially with a dog or a girl on the cover?
Other plot details: the early? high school girl dyed her hair with henna and it didn't turn out quite right - quite a lot of the book was focused on a makeover for when she returned to school (potentially was an outcast at her school or new?). I think the grandma lived on a farm and there was also a horse. There was a lot on the connection forged between the dog (I think named Blue) and the girl.
