So, I deeply dislike America, Like first of all who tf names their child America? And she was SUCH a pick me girl. And while Maxton was right there waiting for her she was with Aspen. Like could she not see how gross Aspen was and how amazing Maxton was? She just irritated me.

I completely agree with you! And I was pissed off with Maxon, too. It felt like he was going behind America's back and flirting with girls instead of trusting that America would fall in love with him. Ugh. I loved the first book so much and then in the second book everything became such a mess

~belle~ (bellesbookclub) | 24 comments i got mad at America because she was upset at maxon for kidding Celeste but girl YOU ARE CHEATING ON HIM FOR ASPEN

Sofia (soficor2006) | 4 comments I didn't enjoy this series.

Spoiler alert!! I am going to talk about some specific details that happen later on in the saga.

In book 2 or 3 I don't remember, America's dad died and some of the people she was really close to, and the author literally didn't show us how America went through or any big signs of grief that normally appear when someone you love dies. Some may say it was shock, but I think that when you describe a character that is in that state they cant just act as nothing happened. I interpreted it as straight laziness. I know how hard it is to write those kinds of feelings and make the reader feel the hurt and loss, but the fact that Kiera Cass just ignored it, makes me mad. The series had a good foundation, I really liked what was happening with the world outside the selection, but overall it wasn't very enjoyable.

And the second book was trash.

Yea, I agree, the characters also frustrated me

Sophie (yourlocalballerinabookworm) | 9 comments I love this series, but I hated the second book (The Elite) Honestly I'd be shocked if you liked that book. But I didn't like how when Celeste died the only commentary we got in it was at Maxon and America's wedding, when she says she wished Celeste were there. I did enjoy the series though, one of my favorites. The first book will probably always be my favorite. I agree that America was really annoying, especially with some of her decisions. Like, I guess I understand trying to promote getting rid of the castes on live TV, but I really don't understand why she decided to bring the diary.

em (libraryofemma_) | 4 comments I love this series sm but like America was SO frustrating sometimes. Like couldn’t she see that her and Aspen were not good together!?? if the copy i was reading wasn’t a library book i would have thrown in across my room on multiple occasions…

Sophia (sophiawolf) | 0 comments I liked this series sm when I first read it, but I was so annoyed by America sometimes, cause even shortly before the end she didn't see that Aspen and her didn't fit together. And I couldn't stand Aspen. And then there was this misunderstanding and I was SO FRUSTRATED with both Aspen and America.

I loved maxon, likes aspen but hated America. she officially gets the award for the most annoying protagonist I have ever read.

Rocío (rocio_sarti) | 3 comments I'm reading this!
I'm actually reading the 2nd book and for now I don't really like Aspen, LOVE Maxon and America... I don't really know, she's just so annoying, sometimes I agree with her but I mean she makes all so difficult

Bonnie (thedaylightreader) | 713 comments I didn’t mind the first book. I think I have it 3 stars. But I absolutely hated the second one. All the torture made me uncomfortable 😭😭

Chaïnese Hi !

I just want to say that I feel completely alone to love Eikko and his relationship with Eadlyn, even if I love Kile I never had the sensation that they were made for each other I don’t know if I am clear in my explanations sorry guys :(

Kirsi This series was not for me AT ALL. Someone recommended it to me, so I thought I'd give it a try, but hnnng was it a painful read. There were just so many things that made no sense, the protagonist was annoying, and even the so-called romance was more cringe-worthy than anything else. I gave the first book two stars and thought I was being generous. Pretty much DNFed the rest, because when I saw the quality wasn't improving I lost all interest.
