SOLVED. Children's chapter book told in POV of older brother (who is a young child), talking about the death of his toddler sister. Spoiler ahead. [s]

Hi all,

I read this book multiple times when I was in the 4th&5th grade anywhere from 2007-2009.
It was a children's chapter book from my school's library. As far as I can remember, it had a gray/monotone cover, possibly with a little girl on the cover.
The premise is that the little boy is talking about his life/family after his toddler-aged sister died. It is later revealed that she was hit by a car.

I am so sorry that I do not remember much else!

I’m probably wrong but is it Wenny Has Wings? A young boy and his little sister are hit by a truck he survives she doesn’t. He writes in a notebook to her in heaven

It’s by Janet lee Carey. I’m not sure how old the little sister is but she was young and he didn’t want her going with him to the hardware store because she was little and should have been home playing with dolls.
