I read this about a year ago. I can't remember the title or the author. It is set in the land of Albion and it involves a wizard, a young woman who works as a maid in a hotel, and a raven that turns itself into a spell book. I also remember that the wizard's shadow attaches itself to the girl because he falls in love with her.
