Haha, my kid enjoys watching me play it so it's not all bad.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Made a good dent in R&C: Rift Apart now. Bit cheesy and predictable at times and not hugely different from the last one but I'm enjoying it. Doesn't seem to be overly long, which is good, and trophy wise nothing looks too difficult. Tempted to replay the previous game after I'm done

Only 3 days off?! You must be some kind of superhero dude or love your job. I was off for 2 weeks and I'm completely knackered at the end of each working day. Currently working from home because I'm still coughing like I smoke 1000 cigarettes a day.

Glass, I finally played SOMA. Not what I expected at all but enjoying it. I like the lots of little things to explore which add to the narrative but could be easily missed. Only a couple of the puzzles have stumped me so far. I'm pretty close to the end I reckon.

It wasn't as good as I made out. I had leave booked too. So although I only took 3 days off work, I was ill another couple of days into my leave. And then it took me another week on top to feel back to normal again. So I felt ill (temperature, sore throat, cough, no energy) for around 5 days but coughing up lung oysters and feeling a little tired when doing exercise for a further week. So probably two weeks in all and only 5 days when I felt like real crap.

Did you have your three jabs?

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments And Ping! Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Pretty easy plat and have to say enjoyed the game overall. I usually find that that type of game usually has some point that has you pulling your hair out, but no. Biggest compliment I can give it is - it was fun, and that's definitely not something I can say about every Sony game. Could partly be because I was a little wary beforehand and questioned my sanity when it appeared in the cart, and expectations weren't high to say the least so anything half decent would have been mildly surprising

message 1608: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Just a little fun fact:

In Control, the light switch cord (which factors heavily into the game) is found in Butte, Montana...the city I live in. Just one more reason I'm loving the game lore.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments After Rift Apart, I went back to the PS4 Ratchet and Crank to try and plat it as well. Wasn't sure if my controller would be up to the hoverboard times, but managed to get them out of the way, so all I've left is the grindy - get all weapons to max level - trophy for the ping, probably take a while but not difficult. Replaying the game, it's a bit more flawed than I remember, with a few more irritations than Rift Apart but enjoyed it well enough

Ping! - Cars 3: Driven to Win

Not the straight forward, few hours plat I thought it would be but got it done at last. I was considering cutting my loses but glad I got it done.

I'm 10 trophies of a total of 10,000 now. Might see if I have unfinished game or games I can make #10,000 a plat.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Congrats on the Cars 3 plat, not one I'll be going anywhere near.

I've just the 16193 trophies, only 180 (soon to be 181) plats though ;)

message 1612: by [deleted user] (new)

Cheers. Cars 3 was plat #188 so just keeping my nose in front on that side of things, for now at least ;)

Still got Mayo 2 and 3 in reserve if I need a boost haha

I'm tripled jabbed but still got walloped by it.

Finished SOMA. It was alright. Contemplating what to play next. Off on holiday this Friday so plenty of time to contemplate. Loads of options - Plenty of VR titles, Days Gone, Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima and...Game Pass.

Thought the Xbox showcase was alright. Nothing really wowed me. But I did think Calisto Protocol looks amazing at summer Game Fest.

message 1614: by R(ob) (new)

R(ob) (r_uk) | 886 comments Mod
XBox showcase for me was mediocre. As was the PS State of Play. Some good third-parties coming such as the Callisto Protocol, RE4 Remake. Don't know why the Last of Us Part 1 PS5 remake exists. I thought RedFall, Forza Motorsport and Starfield looked good but we've known about those for years. Nothing much else that interested me.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Ping! Ratchet and Crank. Enjoyed playing both it and Rift Apart.

I've moved on to Metal Max Xeno Reborn.....it probably should have stayed dead lol. Metal Max Xeno was a flawed but somewhat fun jrpg but, instead of ironing out the creases, they've made everything a lot more awkward and even most of the visual changes have made it look worse. It's a little bizarre, not sure how they thought anything they've done with it was a good idea. Don't know whether I'll be sticking with it for long

And I see the PS5 versions of Resident Evil 2, 3 & 7 have appeared. 7 is probably the one I'd be interested to see if there's much of a difference and wonder if it effects VR?

message 1616: by [deleted user] (new)

Ping! My Name is Mayo 2

Not much to say about this really. Was going to wait but the urge for a quick, dirty plat was too much.

message 1617: by [deleted user] (new)

Is anyone else excited for this year's COD. MW2 remaining.

It's the first time I've felt any excitement for any game, never mind a COD game. The 2019 MW game was great and the original MW2 in 2009 is one of my fav games ever.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I've still to finish CoD Black Ops 3, WW2 and Cold War and not picked up the MW reboot or Vanguard. Can't motivate myself to finish them anymore and surprisingly have had enough sense to stop picking them up. Years ago, I thoroughly enjoyed a good CoD, but these days no, not a lot of interest.

message 1619: by [deleted user] (new)

All of those were mediocre at best apart from the MW reboot.

I reinstalled WW2 but its a pale imitation of World at War.

message 1620: by R(ob) (last edited Jun 14, 2022 05:03AM) (new)

R(ob) (r_uk) | 886 comments Mod
Yea can't say I'm that excited by MW2. I'll get it - I always do. I think it will be a decent COD but I haven't really been completely absorbed by a COD since the days of MW1, MW2 and World at War - those to me are the classic CODs. I guess it's long in the tooth now and so the excitement level has dropped for me but it's defo still one of the best multiplayers out there. Campaign wise - since the classic days - it's been a mixed bag of good, bad and mediocre. Vanguard single player was definitely bad. The reboot MW campaign was decent but the multiplayer albeit good wasn't amazing for me. I liked the Vanguard MP - much better than WW2 MP. Blops 4 was good too.

message 1621: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah the CODES from 2007 - 2011 were classics. The MW trilogy, WaW and Blops. Not everyone likes MW3 and whilst it wasn't as good as 1 and 2, I still loved it. Would love a campaign remaster of that one too.

They've talked up the campaign for this new MW2 and is what's got me hyped I think.

message 1622: by [deleted user] (new)

COD's not CODES. Dawn auto correct.

message 1623: by R(ob) (last edited Jun 14, 2022 07:35AM) (new)

R(ob) (r_uk) | 886 comments Mod
Yea I liked the MW3 campaign - I remember the suburban levels I really liked. The multiplayer wasn't that good - I remember particularly disliking it.

As for my gaming recently I've not played any single player stuff for over a week now - my weekend was very busy with non gaming stuff. Although I did play the new Battlefield 2042 season one map. It's good - a vast improvement over all the boring bland and wide open maps from launch. However, one new map after 7 months - it's a joke lol. EA and DICE go from saying yea we'll fully fix the broken mess and support the game with new content and then the first season comes and one new map and two new guns. Absolute joke.

message 1624: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments MW2 was the last time I actually purchased a COD. I had some friends who wanted me to join their squad. I'm so horrible at multiplayer in shooters, lol. No one has asked me to purchase a FPS since. Gears and Halo coop campaigns have been fun though.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Finished off the Metal Max Xeno Reborn story but will probably play it for a few more days to see if it's platable. Don't have high hopes but it's looking slightly easier than its previous iteration.

After that - don't have a clue, maybe one of the upgraded Resi's

message 1626: by DeckardCain's Sandals (last edited Jun 17, 2022 05:18AM) (new)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Think I might be giving up on the Metal Max Xeno Reborn plat attempt sooner rather than later. Only a couple of trophies left but one of them is either bugged or the description is misleading (which is possible considering the game's a bit of a mess). But even if it's the second one, it's probably more of a grind than I'm willing to put in at the minute. Then again, I'm really not sure what to move onto next, so may end up sticking with it for a while longer.

Edit: Had a bit of a read and have a bit more encouragement that the plat is doable now. You wouldn't think "buy everything in the store" would sound problematic but that's the game for you

message 1627: by [deleted user] (new)

You should get on doing some laps on Grid instead ;)

I've discovered The Boys on Amazon Prime so have been binging that instead of gaming. Great stuff.

Still no idea what to try when I do fancy gaming again though.

message 1628: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments I plan to finish up Control over the weekend. It remains a complete mystery what I may end up with next.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Had a pretty decent weekend in terms of pings.

Saturday I managed to finish off Metal Max Xeno Reborn. Have a soft spot for the game despite it's many issues. There's a part mid way through that you meet the big boss and he's supposed to defeat you...unfortunately for him he's a bit buggy so sometimes doesn't bother attacking, so it's possible to finish the game there and then, which kind of sums up the whole game.

After that noticed Ganbare Super Strikers had gotten a PS5 upgrade so got a 2nd plat for that.

Then, since I was on a roll, went back and knocked off the last few trophies of Horizon Forbidden West, there's at least one of the hunter trials seem a bit badly designed to me, but managed it after a few tries.

And finally, pinged Active Neurons.

Think I'm going to start a PS4 playthrough of Forbidden West next, so that will take me a while. Had tried playing a bit of Absolute Drift and would like to get stuck into it, but that type of game really isn't suited to a dodgy controller, think I'd be pulling my hair out in no time. Also played a wee bit of Nobody Saves the World, which is alright

Morning everyone.

Back from a week vacation.
It felt great.

Went to see Top Gun 2 with my Mrs and i loved it.
Its been a while since i had so much fun at the cinema.

Gaming wise, finished Metro 2033 (again), still playing Dying Light 2 and hawed Cyberpunk 2077 (shamefully again) and Far Cry 6 for the X.

Hi everyone. Finished one more mission on Sniper Elite 5 which took me 3 hours. And I died a lot but had a lot of fun and such a great map. Only one more mission to go. Also played more of the new Battlefield 2042 season one map - only if they'd made all the maps in BF2042 this good, but they didn't. Only decent map in the game when in previous Battlefields nearly all maps were decent.

Glassmoon - The Benny Hill of Plats | 779 comments Mod
I gotta say that my X backlog is getting a decent size.
I already moved it to my bedroom so im planning to alternate between the X and the Pro in the future.

I still need to increase the backlog from decent to ridiculous until im confortable.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Think it's probably a bit too soon for a Forbidden West replay, though it might just be that, because the PS4 version is a fair bit rougher than the PS5, my eyes might need a bit of time to re-adjust. Made a bit of a dent in Nobody Saves the World instead, it's nothing spectacular but keeping my interest so far. Tempted to pick up the Shadowrun Trilogy later, so think the PS4 Forbidden West run can wait.

message 1634: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Had a nice time with Punch Club over the weekend. It's a retro time management type sim. Eat food, sleep, work out to get stronger for upcoming fights...work to earn more money for food etc. Anyway, the loop hooked me, and the humor was pretty solid. There were a few bugs that forced me to hard reset. I'll give in a 7/10 but I really did enjoy it more than that.

Didn't quite finish Control. I had left off with only the final DLC boss and main game boss to go. Hartman, the DLC boss, was by far the most difficult encounter I've had in the game. After several hours and dozens of attempts I finally beat him. I had no desire to immediately go fight another end game boss after that, so I set it down.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Made a start on Shadowrun: Dragonfall and it's getting the thumbs up from me so far. Looks like my type of game. But I might hold off on it and try and finish Nobody Saves the World, as I am enjoying that wee game. Why, I have no idea, but getting stuck into the Shadowrun Trilogy can wait for now, or maybe play alongside

It seems like a great game to test the X´s power.

I liked FC6 Glass. It’s more of the same - don’t expect anything much changed - but it has none of this alternate reality errie ghostly world campaign mission stuff in it. So it feels more grounded to me than FC5. And I prefer the map as it’s a bit more FC3 like in terms of tropical islands. I also prefer the bad guy in FC6. One thing I would recommend is turning of the drug effects - as the game has a drug in it that affects your senses which is annoying for me. There is a setting to turn it off. I never played the DLC as I didn’t rate the FC5 DLC.

In terms of console power. It’s ok - I don’t think it really pushes next gen consoles. It’s dynamic 4K 60fps but same old engine. Environments look good.

message 1640: by [deleted user] (new)

I was thinking of passing on Far Cry 6 but from R's description it sounds worth picking up cheap. I'll defo pass on the DLC though.

I'm at another point with gaming where I just don't fancy anything. I did play the new free horde map on Zombie Army 4 which I enjoyed enough.

I see.
Far Cry games are my "i dont care if its bad" titles.
I mean, they are always the same and are beyond formulaic but i always have fun with them for some reason.
Maybe its the freedom the game allows when using the open world.
I read some lousy reviews of the game but just by looking at the gameplay in those videos i felt compeled to haw it.
Im also looking forward to play Cyberpunk on the X too.
I already bought it for the pro but it wouldnt make much sense to play the last gen version when i could be playing the next gen version so i rehawed it for the X.

Its been strange to let go of my trophy habbits and change to achievemnts.
I know its dumb as they really dont matter all that much but it just feels weird to start playing a game knowing it wont raise my trophy level. :(

I need a PS5 now too I think. Partly for something new but also my PS4 is starting to make a lot of noise again. It turned itself off again as well and the only thing I was doing was watching Prime.

I had an email from Sony where I could basically put myself on a list to get first dibs on the next roll out of new stock but I still can't really justify it :(

I will get a PS5 the moment i see it in any store but i wont join any waiting list for sure.
That´s why i bought an X (and an S). I´ll be able to play everything apart from the exclusives and hopefully i´ll find one...eventually.

Sony offered me a PS5 purchase but I declined. Can't justify it at the moment. I've been looking at the new PS Plus tiers - the extra level with the including games catologue like Games Pass - and all I could see that I want to play of the PS5 games (or PS4 games with PS5 upgrades) is Ghosts of Tsushima and then I'd probably give Demons Souls remake a go (for a laugh but maybe too hard for me) and Death Stranding (as I usually like Kojima games but Death Stranding maybe too much of a dull game considering it's length). So I can't really justify a PS5. Plus there'll be a slim at some point and I hope it's much smaller than the current PS5 monstrosity. I have zero interest in Returnal and the new Horizon game. God of War Ragnarok though I want bad so that could be the breaking point assuming I can find a PS5.

I understand that.
Tbh, since i bought the X/S all i played was Fallout 3 and Fallout 4.
If i got a PS5 it would be mostly to keep playing my backlog with better framerates and loading times.
The loading times are something that can ruin the last gen enjoyment for sure. I´ve been playing a lot of Fallout 4 on the X and every time i go back and play Dying Light 2 on the Pro it feels like im waiting 20 minutes for a loading.
Being able to keep playing Ps4 games on the PS5 would be enough for me to buy one.

I’ve got my series X for increased frame rates for last gen games. I don’t need a PS5 to do the same. Nothing much PS exclusive wise I haven’t played that I want to play other than Ghosts of Tsushima, Death Stranding and any future exclusives that interest me. I am keen to replay the TLOU 1 remake on PS5 but no way I’m paying £70 for it - so I’d get it when the price drops. I’d love to replay both TLOU 1 and 2 back to back on PS5. That would be an epic experience.
