From what I remember it was on my summer reading list in 9th or 10th grade. The teenage girl lived near an area where fires in CA were prone. A fire started due to the San Ana? Winds…and her cat Jabberwocky was lost. A new boy in town or a boy she hadn’t really known who had a motorcycle helped her escape the fire. He also helped her continue searching for her cat. I really wanted to let my daughter read this and for myself to read it again….25+ years later. I’ve searched all of my old boxes my mother hadn’t thrown out but with no luck. It was a great book and I can’t remember the name of the book or author. Thank in advance for any help and for your time in even just reading this post.
