Fantasy (possibly YA)- book that centered around a tree possibly a portal to a different world

I checked this book out from the library around 2004-2007. I can’t remember much other than it was a fantasy novel and a big tree was important. I think there was 1 main character that finds the tree and goes to a different world through it. (The other world could also be in the tree.) I believe the cover was light green and the title was short (maybe even just one word). It was a longer book and was not a part of a series as far as I remember.
