YA, can't remember the genre but character is living in the house with one parent. they find items through the house that take them to a different time/reality where someone else is living in their house and theyre confused and trying not to get caught

read this in high school so in the last 2-3 years. i also remember that one time they came back from said reality and were by the creek in their backyard. not sure if they were moving but parent didnt know that this was occuring and objects that took them their im pretty sure were from the mother

i honestly dont remember much about it because i didnt get very far in but it seemed to be the same time period but im pretty sure one of the items was a snowglobe and the other was a painting. i dont believe it was a part of a series
