I am wanting to work on the PopSugar 2021 and here is what I've completed so far this year:Book published in 2021: Project Hail Mary
Dark Acadamia: Truly Devious
Book with a gem, mineral, or rock: Of Goblins and Gold
Book with a family tree: The Silmarillion
Set outdoors: Lumberjack Werebear
Oxymoron: After the End
Starts with Q: Queen Takes Knights
Same title as a song: Blue Moon
Fewer than 1000 reviews: The Three Kolumns
That list doesn't look like very many. I've got a long way to go
Just started
for featuring three generationsThis was a DNF. It isn't a bad read, I just don't think I'm in the mood to read it right now. So I've moved on.
Currently listening to
for BLM and
for ugliest coverUpdate: DNF Becoming. Just couldn't get interested in it. I'm sure its probably a really good book, I've heard good things about it. Maybe I'll try again at another time.
Finished
for a book chosen at random. I ran across it while browsing my library ebooks and it sounded interesting. Loved it. Can't wait to read more of this series.
Finished
for the Popsugar prompt written by blogger, vlogger, etc. This was really interesting because she talks about different customs around the world concerning funerals and death. Some of it was difficult especially when talking about the deaths of children.
I'd like to see if I can finish the Color Challenge. Many of what I have read this year fits into the categories:White:
Pink:
Red:
Orange:
Yellow:
Green:
Lt Blue:
Dark blue:
Purple:
Brown:
Black:
5 colors:
Geometric patter:
Ugly
Just finished
. This fills in the Fresh Start prompt for Popsugar. I could also use it as my ideal job because the MC works in a bookstore. However, since I don't want to double dip I shall continue with the series and use the next book for this prompt.
Finished
for the Popsugar prompt for my dream job. She works at an occult bookstore and that sounds like a cool job. Listed to it on audible, was very funny. 26/50 for Popsugar
Finished People We Meet on Vacation for a book set in multiple countries. This is also #73 for the year
Finished The Diamond of Darkhold 28/50 for the Popsugar challenge. It fits the prompt a book with a diamond on the cover. This was the last in the City of Ember series. I love a good dystopia and hope to find more like it. This was #74 for the year.
31/50 for Popsugar for a book about body positivity. This was a great read that I would recommend for anyone and everyone with or without arms.#82 for the year
Popsugar #34/50 Famine for a book that I meant to read last year. This could have also fit a book that everyone else has read but me, but I've already filled that category.
also works for the color challenge for a book that has metallic on the cover. 15/18 for the color challenge
I just realized Queen Takes King fits for Popsugar prompt a book set somewhere you'd like to visit. Her nest is in Eureka Springs AR and that's one of my favorite places to visit.35/50 for Popsugar
36/50 The Tiger's Wife for the winner of the Orange prize. I did not care for this book, and actually skimmed the most of it. I would have DNF but I wanted to fill this prompt37/50 Lilith's Brood for the Afrofuturist prompt. This book made up for the dislike of the previous book. Loved it!!
42/50 for popsugar Furthermore for the prompt by a Muslim author. Really enjoyed this one!Eight more to go!
43/50 for popsugar Death by Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake for a book set in a restaurant. Makes me want cherry chocolate cheesecake! Seven more to go! I'm not sure what I am going to read next for this challenge.
44/50 for Popsugar prompt locked room mystery And Then There Were None. Really loved this book but it wasn't a true locked room mystery. There were 10 people trapped on an island but there were no deaths inside a locked room. But it was on the list of locked room mysteries so I counted it.That leaves 6 prompts left to finish:
Longest book: The Memoirs of Cleopatra
Book seen on someone else's shelves
Subject you are passionate about: Moby-Duck: The True Story of 28,800 Bath Toys Lost at Sea and of the Beachcombers, Oceanographers, Environmentalists, and Fools, Including the Author, Who Went in Search of Them
One that reminds you of someone
A DNF
On your TBR the longest
I also have the color challenge to finish: 3 left to read.
Currently working on The Color of Lies for a book with the word color in the title
A word that describes color and
A book with two color words in the title.
Finished The Color of Lies 16/18 for the color challenge for a book with the word color in the title. This read was awesome!! Five stars!!
#45/50 for Popsugar for a book on my DNF list. Icons I listened to the audiobook, but I really have no idea what happened in this book. If someone actually read it and liked it please let me know. Maybe it would be better to read it instead of listening to it.
Just finished listening to The Alpha by Dannika Dark. Love her shifter series.I must be stressed. I am currently reading 5 other books (was 6 until I finished this one)
Love Potion
The Final Warning
The Memoirs of Cleopatra
Save Spirit and
Grave Consequences
Just finished
#46/50 for Popsugar for the prompt a subject you are passionate about. This is a book I would recommend that everyone read. It is eye opening about the effect plastic has on our environment and our lives.
Currently hooked on the Haunted Guesthouse series on audible. Such fun books to listen to and its even better because they are included in the subscription!!
#47/50 for Popsugar Old Haunts it fits the prompt for a book associated with a special person, place, or thing. It brought back a lot of bittersweet memories about a past love.
#48/50 for the Popsugar challenge: The Final Warning. This was a book seen on someone else's bookshelf. My daughter actually has the series and I have been periodically working my way through it.
Only two left to go for the Popsugar prompt:Longest read: Brisingr. (I had attempted The Memoirs of Cleopatra but that turned out to be a DNF)
On my TBR the longest: The Changeling Sea
One left for the color challenge: a book with a word that describes color. I haven't decided on that one yet.
#49/50 for the Popsugar Challenge The Institute by Stephen King. He really is the king of horror. What made this so unsettling is that there are people who enjoy hurting others and those that believe in their own agendas. They believe that the end justify any means. This book gave me nightmares but I couldn't stop reading it. 5 stars all the way. I'd give more if I could.
I have one left for the Popsugar challenge and that will be Steal Away Home by Jane Kristof. It is a short read but has a personal significance. When I was in 4th or 5th grade we were reading this one in class. I moved before I could finish it and have always wondered how it ended. I have recently obtained a copy and will finally get to finish this book. :)
