Jason (quix) | 6 comments There was this book that I saw a preview for on Audible a while back and didn't grab, but I can't get it out of my head.

All I remember is that there were a bunch of kids who believed that when they reached a certain age they would be taken away and killed or maybe sent somewhere where they were almost certainly going to die.

They had spent their entire lives in some sort of prison managed by robots and they were forced to do things like clean the prison. A bunch of them were planning to escape, and one of them had jiggered a vent while cleaning to give them a way out IIRC.

They didn't know much of anything about the outside world, apparently it was an apocalyptic wasteland although supposedly one of them had come from it when they were little.

Pretty sure it was YA, but I don't know that for sure.

ETA: I'm pretty sure the MC is a girl

ETA: I've x-posted this at Reddit. There have been a few suggestions there that weren't the right book. Let me add that information here:
Books that this book is NOT: 'The Loop by Ben Oliver', 'Shade's Children by Garth Nix'

Part of a series?
Anything about the cover?

Jason (quix) | 6 comments I don't remember anything about the cover. This was earlier this year that it popped up in my Audible. I think they were having a sale. I don't recall if it was part of a series or not.
