SOLVED. summer camp with horses [s]

I had a series of books as a tween, that I can't remember the title\author of. It was about a girl who was supposed to go to a summer camp with her bff...one of their names may have been Judy? Only the bff broke her leg and couldn't go. She was nervous but went alone and had a great time. In one of the later books her bff came to visit...and I think they got in a wagon for a ride but the horse ran away with them??

Horse Crazy by Virginia Vail...I finally found one of my paperback copies.

And to remind myself... The other one is a series by Claire Birtch called the Galloping Detective, I think. Where in one book she works on her fathers film as a stunt double.
