Yes, I'm afraid for the last couple of years I have tended to lump in England with Hungary and Poland as well. And I think, given time, Poland is the candidate most likely to break out.
Italy? A stay of grace for now. Not too optimistic though....

i have read a lot about Hamburg and Dresden, the terrible effects of area bombing and incendiary devices. My aunt is German(she married by fathers older brother, who speaks fluent german) and has told me many stories of the bombing in the Munich-Passau area
I think brexit and the current leadership have managed to close a lot of doors on official analysis and admissions of guilt for so many things linked to the past. With their tawdry flag waving, racism and lack of empathy, we are entering a backwards age of national self- awareness. The current Polish and Hungarian governments are examples of chauvinistic forgetfulness of the past and instead revelling in an invented one but i sometimes feel Britain is drifting along the same lines
